I am loving my experience. I wish I was more informed about paying taxes because I would be spending all my money instead of saving so much for taxes. It doesn't seem fair especially with the little wage us au pairs earn

Was great because i met a lot of au pairs

We did not have a good experience with cultural care. Everything seemed great and we matched with an au pair who we really connected with. We started payment, they gave us her flight days and times, and we decorated her room and talked everyday. She then messaged me that someone from Cultural Care told her she wasn’t going to be allowed to take her visa exam because they didn’t think her English was good enough. This was shocking to me because I talked to her everyday with no issues and no one from Cultural Care had said anything to me. It took weeks of me calling and following up to try to get an answer. Meanwhile she was devastated and discouraged. They said they wouldn’t let her continue because they thought she’d fail the visa interview and even with me begging them to let her try, they denied it and wanted her to take more time to improve her English. Thankfully we were able to get refunded (I was, she was not) and we quickly switched to another agency as a pre-match and she passed her visa interview first time with zero issues and is now our au pair. The whole experience was extremely disappointing as they made a young girl who already has enough anxiety about leaving her home country for a life changing experience feel like she wasn’t good enough after previously approving and letting her in the program, and dropped the ball significantly on communication with us as a host family putting us in a bind for childcare.

I was in a long process to finally find my host family, meeting after meeting with Cultural Care to give me advice and answer my questions... I think that if I had made a hasty decision I wouldn’t have known that they were a perfect fit for me, even though the adaptation process is complicated because the culture is different and every family has its problems and sometimes there’s days where communication is complicated, they have been a great support for me and good people
