UPDATE- the very same day they emailed to say they’d raise 2 months credit (so I still apparently owe money) and the next day another debt collection threat for £23.89. The account is still active and absolutely nothing is being done by Chess to sort this out …I was going to attach an image but Trust Pilot isn’t giving me the option. I've just sent this email to Chess and thought it was easier to copy and paste here than rewrite an entire review. Good luck new customers lol. Dear Chess Customer service, I have a long complaint and you're threatening me with a debt collection agency. Back story: 4.4.23 - I emailed with a header "Please cancel my contract" to check I was out of contract as I was moving to BT. 4.4.23 - I received an email from Kerryann thanking me for the written notice to cancel my contract. 1.7.23 - I realised you were still taking monthly payments from me even though I've been with BT since the 1st May, so I emailed your loyalty team to query it and also emailed Kerryann. 7.7.23 - I emailed Kerryann again complaining that no one had replied to me. 10.7.23 - Khalida emailed me to say BT took the land line on the 2.5.23 but not the Internet, so said I need to send in ANOTHER 30 day cancellation notice to the loyalty email. 10.7.23 - I replied to Khalida explaining that I sent the notice on the 4thh April and you accepted it. 13.7.23 - Khalida forwarded me your email from April confirming the cancellation and then said BT hadn't taken the broadband (which they disagree with) and then asked me to confirm I wanted to cancel the BB. 18.7.23 - I replied and said "Yes, I told you in April I wanted to cancel". 20.7.23 - Khalida replied saying I had to email the loyalty team to confirm the cease of contract and that all emails had to go to the loyalty email address. PLEASE NOTE Khalida must have read the initial email I sent to the loyalty email address as I didn't email her directly, she was replying to an email I sent to the LOYALITY EMAIL ADDRESS with the header "Please cancel my contract". 20.7.23 - I emailed the loyalty email address with all of the information above. I confirmed that the contract should have been cancelled and this was at least my 3rd confirmation of cancellation and as far as I'm concerned, my cancellation 30s notice should have been stared on the 4th April with 30 days notice. 24.7.23 - I received a letter via email reminding me I had no contract with Chess since 2022 and I had the choice to move to a new provider or carry on using the service monthly, so I forwarded it the loyalty team asking why I received this. 24.7.23 - I forwarded this email to the loyalty email address asking what on earth was going on within Chess and why my account hadn't been closed. You've blocked the access to my messages on your portal now, but on my emails the last one I had said the matter has been closed, but my bills have been rising each month even though the service should have been cancelled in May. Since it was cancelled you've taken the following payments 30th May 2023 - £36.76 29th June 2023 - £35.06 28th July 2023 - £35.06 I then cancelled the direct debit. You've billed me every month since for £32.55 and claim I now owe you £88.99. I've received 5 cease of service emails, every month since the 4th July 2023, yet you still continue to bill me for a service that you 100% know has not been used since the 1st May 2023. As far as I'm concerned you owe me £106.88. If you decide to go to a debt collection agency I will be contacting my legal cover to take you and them to court to rectify this as I am not having bad business credit due to this absolute mess caused by Chess. I was told to email this email address when I wrote a review on your google reviews...so please do not email me back asking me to email the loyalty team.

I've never had an account with Chess but my recent dealings with Kerryann handling my late father's account was very respectful, quick and seamless. Kerryann Farmer-Tomblin deserves a raise!

Beware of this company and their sharp practices. They have been extremely poor at dealing with a recent technical problem and in addition have dealt with the subsequent complaint in an appalling manner. Watch out for the small print when agreeing to any contract. A line which we informed them was due to expire they rolled over and are now charging us £700+ in cancellation fees. There are many better providers than Chess in this crowded market place offering a much fairer, affordable and friendlier service.

Chris Smith was very helpful and knowledgeable. His positive attitude and approach made the installation straightforward and stress free... The training he provided to the end-users made them feel comfortable with the solution in minutes and his follow-ups has given them added confidence in the system.

I can only assume that the high rating for Chess is drawn from general interaction on the telephone, which is very professional, but I have been trying to close my account since 15th August and still they are taking my money. They dont seem interested if you wish to terminate your line. It seems if they say they will get someone to contact you (this is apparently Josh my account manager, who I am sure doesnt actually exist) they simply do nothing, they can then continue to take my money. I should have terminated this account years ago, there are many telecoms providers our there that are much more competitive and offer good service.

Autumn Lodge care home we have had Martin Cosgrove installing our new cloud voice telephone system, Martin was polite and professional , he is a real credit to his employer and I would be happy to recommend CHESS as a company.

Almost 5 years ago I started using Chess for my business phone and broadband. At the time, the cost seemed reasonable, and I thought I would be paying £41 plus VAT monthly for the next 60 months. However, over time and despite the figures agreed in my contract, my bill from Chess has gone up and up so that I now pay them £99 monthly!! Of course, having checked around recently, I discover that I can easily find a similar or better service from many/any other companies for less than a third of this cost ... so, naturally, I have now arranged to switch to another provider at £27 + VAT monthly. Now the big contractual catch ... I discover that at the point of switching, I will still be, just, within the 5 year contractual period with Chess, so Chess are going to charge me a cool £329.45 termination fee as I switch to the other provider! I've pointed this out to Chess, that I have been a good profitable customer for almost 5 years, despite their ever increasing charges, and I would be happy to part on good terms, if they simply waive their entirely unreasonable £329.45 termination fee ... and this, of course, is when I discover Chess are not reasonable decent types, but are sharks. Only now, have I checked up on their online reviews to discover that all too many customers are having a similar experience ... shame on you Chess! So, Chess are apparently allowed to charge me almost exactly double my contracted cost, over several years ... so I feel I have already been thoroughly fleeced by them ... and they can now charge me an additional £329.45 to get away from them. We all do that thing of not reading all the small print within contracts ... life is just too short ... but we generally think companies will be fair and reasonable in their actual dealings with us, especially when we have actually been good profitable customers for a long time. I would happily just cancel my direct debit arrangement with Chess ... but you know with these types, that you will just end up with threats of legal action and the danger of having a bad debt listed. So, I will pay them their highly unreasonable £329.45 to be rid of them ... and I will also write them some honest reviews. So, just don't sign a contract with Chess Telecom.

Fahad Khan has been amazing with all his help, I can't praise him enough! We have had so many issues lately and we really couldn't of sorted it out without him!
