The hot water only lasted 5 minutes at most so we had to shower with cold water. No AC and the floors are very dirty and the furniture as well. The unit is very outdated needs improvement. Plus they want you to take your rubbish bin to a dump site like when your on vacation your prepared for a big trash bin in your rental car.
The whole process from choosing a location to processing the rental and checking in and out where a breeze . And the cabin was clean and in good condition
This spacious home has a great location at Boulder Bay Park, with nice water views from the porch and hot tub. Home is nicely maintained and spacious.
Pros - Great view of lake from deck; furniture as expected based on listing photos; we’ve stayed at many rental houses and this one had the most well stocked shelves of utensils, plates, bowls, cups, glasses, etc. Even had an Instant Pot which we haven’t seen before. Cons - on arrival we entered the cabin and were accosted by a horrible smell that smelled like pesticide or bug spray. We opened all windows and doors and turned on all 3 box fans to circulate fresh air into & through the cabin. After about 3 hours we ended up going to buy scented candles at grocery store so we could go to sleep. After 2 full days the smell had dissipated. Although the kitchen was well stocked as mentioned in “Pros”, most of the utensils plates and glasses had food particles on them and required cleaning before we could use them. Also the listing showed photo of back yard beyond deck that was clear but on arrival it was completely covered by 4’ weeds so thick there was no access to the waters edge. We were unable to launch our kayaks from our rental property. IMG_5812
There was a little bit of an issue with the door key and the deadbolt, but the staff at Big Bear Cool Cabins was able to get it taken care of right away! The cabin itself was well kept and clean, and a wonderful place to stay for a couple of days. I will definitely be staying at one of their properties again.
Had a nice rental but no water pressure whatsoever in sink for dishes, shower & water in shower either to hot or cold other issues as well.. cool cabins offered a 15 % discount in next holiday stay which is already a normal offer to book what awful customer service to renters that spend alot already. Very disappointing 😔
Everything was okay
When we were searching vrbo we specifically looked for properties that had no specificications on dogs beca8se we have 3. That way we know ahead of time how much it will cost for a deposit. There was no limits on dogs it just said pet friendly. When we got to the property we were immediately notified that someone saw we had 3 dogs and that was going to be an additional $180.00. We said fine and we're charged $200.00. Not before we were charged for early check in of $25. Then we get into the cabin and it had not been cleaned in quite some time. There was dust on everything (at least an inch thick)and dead insects on and in all the kitchen wear as well as the appliances. We cleaned it and got on with our vacation.
For "Lakehouse Retreat" GREAT - The location was great - Open floorplan NEEDS IMPROVEMENT - The unit needs to be cleaned better as the floor was dirty and the surfaces were really dusty - There were spiderwebs everywhere on the deck, indicating it hadn't been used or cleaned in awhile - The flooring on the deck was really dirty and had droppings in the corners - For a unit that can accommodate a family, it had one small sofa in the living room. Adding a loveseat or sectional would have made it more comfortable.
We contacted Big Bear Cool Cabins two times. First, we had a minor issue opening the door, and they were quick to answer and solve our issue. We also, had issues with the WiFi and a service person was sent immediately to correct the issue. Both these items were very minor; however the responsiveness of Big Bear Cool Cabins could not have been better! I was very pleased with the cabin and all aspects of our stay!
Our trip was amazing! The office was so easy to check in to and the cabin was fabulous!
Such a beautiful cabin. We had such a great time at the Vanderhut Chale, it felt like being at home. The rooms are spacious. The backyard has such a great space. The kitchen has everything for you to entertain the family while you stay here.
While Happy Hours is a nice cabin in a great location, we found things that need to be addressed. Our first evening, we discovered a terrible stench coming from the kitchen sink and the disposal was not working well. There were ants in the kitchen and although upon calling the office the following morning we were brought traps and spray, this made for fun times on vacation (we continued to see random ants throughout the cabin). Also, the cabin floors, downstairs shower, and air filter grate desperately need a good cleaning. We understand this is meant to be a rustic experience, but clearing away spider webs on occasion is strongly suggested. We can only give 4/5 stars this time, but we would consider coming back under better conditions.
We spent a great week at The Twisted Twig. This cabin meets all our expectations for my husband, myself and our dog. While living in the cabin for a week it was very comfortable, everything convenient and user friendly, the washer and dryer were also a plus. The backyard is large, and we enjoyed using the Hot Tub almost daily. The neighborhood is walking distance to the Moonridge Corridor which was an enjoyable and refreshing walk to in the mornings. This is in a great location close to grocery stores. The customer service I received from Big Bear Cool Cabins during the booking process was excellent. The staff is always, polite, friendly and professional. We have been renting from them for many years and highly recommend!
The internet service failed on and off on the second day of our stay.
Our cabin was perfect! I did have a few questions a time for two during our trip and the staff responded to my texts within minutes. And did I mention our cabin was perfect?? Beautiful view! Clean and well stocked inside. Beautifully decorated! And the beds were comfortable!!
Great for 4 adults and 3 kids. Loved the kitchen and living room area. Close distance to so many things.
We really enjoyed the Twisted Twig. we did have a few technical problems. Among other things, the sliding door out to the back patio is not at all user-friendly and if you do not have a lot of strength and are older, it is very difficult to open once it’s locked. We were also disappointed that the icemaker and the water dispenser on the refrigerator was unplugged. Other than that, we enjoyed the cabin very much. We will be back.
The cabin was nice, good location. But there were so many ants inside. We ended up having to throw away a lot of our food because of the ants.
The original cabin we booked became unavailable, but a rep was very helpful in finding us a new space that was still in the area we wanted! Beautiful view, peaceful, loved the patio.
