About First American Home Warranty

First American home warranty plans provide a safeguard for your budget when your home’s systems and appliances break down. When a covered item unexpectedly stops working, we’re here to help with getting it working again. As a leader in the home warranty industry since 1984, you can count on the protection, experience and stability of First American Home Warranty. Appliances and home systems will eventually fail. It’s unavoidable. A home warranty offers you a renewable service contract you can use to protect systems in your home such as heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical, as well as major appliances like your dishwasher, oven, clothes washer/dryer, refrigerator, and more. With our home warranty protection, when a covered item breaks, we’ll send a pre-screened service contractor to your home to diagnose the issue. Many of our customers request service multiple times each year and save hundreds to thousands of dollars on repair and replacement costs. These types of mechanical failures are typically not covered by your homeowners insurance, so a home warranty can help bridge that gap in protection by shielding your budget from these sudden expenses. Benefits of a First American home warranty: • A simple solution when something breaks • Protection from huge, unexpected repair or replacement bills • 24/7 service requests • Unlimited service calls We offer a variety of affordable warranty plans and options so you can customize your coverage to fit your home and budget. FAHW acted promptly in responding to our claim and contacting a local service provider to evaluate our broken dishwasher. The technician determined the power board failed on the dishwasher and this part was no longer available to make the repair. A new dishwasher was ordered and installed within 3 weeks. We are very satisfied with the new dishwasher.

I called to have my garbage disposal repaid/replaced ..the internet response to come was a wide window between 9am and 1pm ..so 1 pm came and went I called the vendor and they said running late ..and apx 5 pm I got a msg saying they couldn’t get into my gated community..by that time I missed their call ..then called them back and they said it was too late cause they left for their home base 50/60 miles away ..so sitting here at Easter with dinner planned and a disposal that doesn’t work ..And First American has no person to talk to to complain ..just a computer recording to call the same contractor.. I hate to think what would happen if something else went out

It's been 3 weeks our central Ac fan has been requested and all they do is apologize. The max they said they will give us is 150 dollars for the three weeks that our AC fan has been requested. Every single day. Every single day mynhusband calls them and their sub contract company EMS and they say they haven't receiv3d the part. Temperatures are as high as 83F. You can imagine how difficult it gets with kids. And we have been telling them again and again. And all their reps do is apologize and tell us they will talk to EMS and then remove the hold on the phone and tell us the part will be here next week. And we have heard the same things from EMS. So they have us like a tennis ball from one player to the next. They received the part yesterday but when we called today both companies told us next week. So they want to enjoy their Easter holiday and attend to our problem later. I told them that the amount of call center representatives they have hired it would have been much better of they hired a few extra technicians to replace the representatives jobs. That would increase efficiency. Imagine now the kids have a long weekend and they will be grilling in the texas heat. For reference pls note the house on Knoll crest. Kindly do not email me and ask me the reference number. If you can then please resolve this issue. And if you can't then let us know so we can reach out to some other company. 3 weeks without Air Conditioner in Texas.

I submitted my first claim 4/11/25. The assigned Contractor is located in Texas; I live in Illinois. Appointment confirmed for 4/17/25. Two days before the scheduled appointment, the Contractor called stating the Technician was not available (only one to service the entire state of Illinois), and wanted to reschedule to date(s) that conflicted with existing appointments I had. I received two more calls from the Contractor, wanting to reschedule to dates I had already stated I had established appointments. Then received a third call from the Contractor 4/17/25, attempting to again reschedule to a date that I had previously stated I had an established appointment. The rep offered an alternative date, but when I tried to ask a question, the call abruptly terminated. Called FAHW and was informed that the appointment showed as 'confirmed' for the alternative date - even though I never accepted/confirmed the alternative date.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY! I’ve had this company for over a year and a half, and I am beyond frustrated with the repeated runarounds and total lack of value. Last year, they added Freon to my AC without issue. This year, when I called for the same problem, suddenly their policy changed—Freon isn’t covered anymore. No notice, no warning—just “sorry, not our problem.” So I had to pay $350 out of pocket to fix it through a different company. That same day, I also put in a service request for my garage door. It wouldn’t open. The technician came, looked at it, and instead of addressing the real issue (a bad motor—which was OBVIOUS), he gave me a laundry list of unnecessary “recommendations” and quoted me over $550! I knew it was just the motor, so I got a second opinion from another company, and guess what? They fixed the motor for way less. No upselling, no games. So basically, First American charged me $100 for a service call where NOTHING got fixed and tried to rip me off with an inflated estimate for something that should’ve been covered. When I called today to cancel the warranty, they tried to act like I was in the wrong—claiming my AC was covered. Then why wasn’t it handled properly when I called before? Oh right, because their reps give you different answers every time and hide behind “policy changes.” This company is a total scam. They take your money every month and do everything they can to avoid paying for actual repairs. Then they send out techs who just try to upsell you instead of fixing anything. BEWARE. Always get a second opinion before accepting their shady quotes, and please think twice before signing up with these people. They are NOT worth the headache.
