Before my trip to Jamaica I did a Travel Notification with Avant and they emailed me I was good to go. First transaction in Jamaica: denied. In 3 days, I had 5 different transactions denied after talking to 5 different agents who said my card had been “reset.” Not to mention the fraud alerts, the 3 dropped calls and the broken promise that a supervisor would “call me at 6 central time.” Good thing I called ahead before my trip. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I truly hope all my calls were “recorded for training purposes.”

The application process is a farce. You are made to submit six months worth of bank statements and other documentation before they have even reviewed your credit file, which is ridiculous. A complete waste of time. Response to Avant: you are missing the point of this review, with an unsurprisingly generic response. Why not do the credit check first and if that passes then proceed documentation like most of the companies.
