Chris Surfleet provided a stress free & seamless service for me here in Torquay. My items were sold at the top end of his estimations & there were regular communications from the admin team.
My Family recently had a large collection of coins for sale and had no idea of values or how to go about selling. I made contact with Oliver Scott (Manager at The Liverpool Sale Room, of Adam Partridge Auctioneers and Valuers). From the intial contact, Oliver advised and guided me through the process and procedures of their auctions, which was a breath of fresh air, to be in a safe pair of hands. Oliver fortunaely lived not too far from my address and visited to review the collection. We agreed he take the whole collection for his Team to value, to which they did and produce a detailed inventory of the collection, along with lower and upper estimates. The auction took place recently, All lots sold and to our surprise made Top estimate. We cannot Thank Oliver and his Team enough for their professionalism throughout and wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services to anyone, who is looking to auction items or in a similar position we found ourselves. A 5-Star, second to none service. Thank You.
A good experience all round, as a first time bidder. The pre-auction information is perfectly clear, so much so I was happy to leave a commission bid. Carriage by DHL was straightforward, packing was more than adequate. Looking forward to the next sale.
Helpful and constructive
First class service from the staff at Liverpool auction house. A very prompt, friendly and professional service from initial contact and through valuation process with everything being explained clearly by Kath.
Amazing first class service. Having won the auction for a framed and glazed picture I then needed to get it delivered as the auction house is not nearby. Partridge Auctioneers did a fantastic job of packing the item so it did not get damaged in transit and for a very fair price for the service. I shall not hesitate to bid in the future now I know what a wonderful packing team they have. Thankyou all again
Everything went very smoothly from the valuation for probate through to the auction. Emmeline was our contact at Adam Partridge throughout the process. Everything was done in a timely fashion and was very professional. I would highly recommend Emmeline and Adam Partridge as an auction company.
From our initial contact to today when everything was collected from my fathers house, the team at Adam Partridge have been absolutely brilliant and made it all very easy. Samara needs a special mention as she has been so efficient and lovely to deal with from the start and always coming back to me when she says she is going to. I know when the items go into the auction if will be handled just as well - already been informed some items will be held onto as more suited to a specialist sale at later dates. Thank you to the whole team but Adam for his sense of humour with dealing with us!
We had excellent service by Emmeline at Adam Partridge Auctioneers. We had a large quantity of antique ceramics to sell, Emmeline and the rest of the team gave us very good guidance on how best to proceed and helped us to sell the ceramics. Highly recommended
Brilliant! Great customer service, smooth and easy to do, we are so happy 😁. The guys were so much help to get the best prices for our items. We are always looking for ways to boost money for our charity at The Salvation Army. This is a massive contribution to help the community and our donors will be made up too. Thank you Kath and the team and we will see you again soon x
We received an excellent service from Emmeline Jarrey at Adam Partridge Liverpool branch. She came out to view what we had and quickly suggested how to divide items into various lots which would interest buyers. Her knowledge was impressive and her estimates were spot on. Highly professional and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
Oliver and the Adam Partridge Auctioneers & Valuers team made the entire process from valuation to sale seamless and exquisite. The knowledge of the market Oliver brought was very helpful and the use of this Auction House is one I would recommend.
I bought an antique cabinet gramophone two weeks ago from their Liverpool branch which had a condition report stating the usual "scratches wear and tear commensurate with age" etc. This statement is quite typical of what a lot of other auctioneers state but it is really not all that useful as it could cover a multitude of issues and possible range of conditions but truth be told most auctioneers tend to rely on such nondescript statements anyway and not provide proper extensive photos showing a lot in detail. A picture is worth more than a thousand words. Although Adam Partridge correctly pointed out that the tonearm was broken and the gramophone turntable did turn, typically "no guarantee" was provided. My main issue is that upon delivery it became immediately obvious that there was a significent piece, approximately 4 x 5 cm of one side of the cabinet missing. You shouldn't need to be a furniture expert or a gramophone expert to see that a section is missing. Slightly less obvious to the uninitiated perhaps is the fact that the gramophone had been re-motored but I would have hoped that a fault made obvious by the extra redundant filled in winding hole on the same side of cabinet as a missing section and adjacent to the current (modified) winding hole might have been picked up. This is a critical issue for collectors and I'd imagine most other buyers? One photo of this side of the cabinet would have been very helpful and revealing. I'm not suggesting any impropriety on the auctioneers part by deliberately omitting a photo which would reveal two major faults but it's more a question of due diligence when examining lots and describing items in general that most prospective buyers will doubtfully get to view in the flesh before bidding. We live in a brave new world where people are increasingly relying on technology to communicate, conduct business and to view items they cannot possibly get to see before taking delivery. Most bids in live sales these days are from over the internet so buyers unfortunately rely on the eyes, observations and knowledge of auctioneers to varying degrees. Auctioneers should realise that in order to provide the best service to vendors, everything they sell will be reliant on proper communication to the "blind" audience behind the screens. One look over this cabinet should have revealed something is obviously wrong. No expertise was needed really in my opinion. My advice to anyone potentially buying"blind" ie. via The Saleroom or EasyLive, would be to ask detailed questions and request additional photos of anything not properly shown to start with. With this said, Adam Partridge was very keen to reconcile my obvious disappointment and frustration with the purchase upon receipt. The gramophone was inexpensive but due to distances the carriage was quite high. However I was granted a full refund of purchase price which is very fair but more than this Mr Partridge personally communicated with me to obtain my thoughts and feedback and seemed genuinely frustrated and upset at the negative response received. Measures are being put in place to ensure that staff do not make mistakes of this kind again. This review is more to warn others that auctioneers generally do not alway examine lots very closely and can sometimes inadvertently omit important condition details. Mistakes will continue to be made everywhere and some will be costly but at least Adam Partridge is not blind to the problems and genuinely appears to want to do everything possible to ensure condition reporting is significantly improved in future. For that I am very grateful.
Absolutely excellent experience. We are a charity, and we regularly sell donated 'costume' jewellery in large bundles. Kath and the staff at Adam Partridge agreed to take a large quantity of jewellery, coins, and banknotes from us on the agreement that they would research, separate, and sell our items for us. With their knowledge and experience they were able to identify high value items, create new bundles and auction them for a much greater price than we could ever achieve. Great communication at all times, friendly and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone.
What a fabulous team her. Nothing is too much trouble. My goods arrived beautifully packed and really quickly which was incredible given that it is xmas week. I have bought lovely things here at this auction on several occasions and at more than one location. I buy from many auction houses but this was special service. Could not recommend highly enough. Thank you. Stella
In particular “Ellie” was very patient and polite answering my questions and sending more photos. Everything was carried out efficiently including the phone bid. Mr Partridge is lucky to have a employee like Ellie who provided excellent customer service.
We were very pleased with the help provided by the Adam Partridge Auctioneers and in particular the advice and service given by Steven Parkinson in the Preston office. The valuations of the range of items were realistic and the after auction follow up service has been excellent.
Emmeline and Kath have been attentive and professional from start to finish. Their expertise and guidance have been invaluable. Attention to detail & care. Warmly recommended.
Emmeline Jarrey handled our house contents auction with professionalism and sensitivity making what was expected to be unsettling experience quite bearable. She took time to explain the market conditions, the process and the terms and was thoughtful about the best timing for the sale of our collection. She has a wide knowledge of ceramics, silver, art, toys, clothes and furniture and quickly identified items of value and the saleable, it was fascinating learning from her. On collection day Emmeline directed the team of packers who arrived with a smile and sense of humour and carefully loaded items on to the truck they were a pleasure to have in our home, they left the empty rooms clean and tidy. We have been delighted by Emmeline's curation of lots and the presentation of the items to attract the widest number of buyers and attain the best price. The service post sale also very professional with funds arriving on time, helpful staff and easy instructions. Finally the sale proceeds exceeded our expectations... Well done and Thank you Emmeline and Adam Partridge
