Few suppliers of hospitality products go back as far as Samuel Groves. This venerable Birmingham-based manufacturer of kitchen equipment started in 1817. The big take-off into hospitality supply came during the Second World War when Samuel Groves won a major government contract to produce aluminium trays, with many other items for the Ministry of Works and the War Office being added soon after. This helped reinforce the foundations of the modern business, which gained a major boost from the introduction of the Mermaid brand at the beginning of the 1950s. Samuel Groves encompasses all facets of manufacturing including Metal Cutting, Presswork, Metal Spinning, Welding, Fabrication and Injection Moulding. In addition, we are able to design and manufacture our own tooling in house. Even though the market and indeed cooking practices have evolved over the years, Samuel Groves quality and processes have improved. We remain traditional manufacturers and every product we are proud to say is still hand-finished. We have been a manufacturer in Birmingham for close to 200 years, some of the skills that will be used in the factory today will have been used all throughout those 200 years. We bought a couple of non-stick tri-ply saucepans and lids. Although expensive, they are beautifully made, solid items. Very quick delivery.
Beautiful copper pans, arrived beautifully packaged. Look like they should last a lifetime. The only strange thing is that they arrived without any care instructions.

On the website the symbol for use with metal utensils is shown. The leaflet accompanying the pan says do not use metal utensils!
Ordered a 28cm frying pan online. It was delivered quickly and was well packaged. Just as well, because it is very heavy. Quality is good, but although they are described as "seasoned" the non-stick performance will improve after a few uses. It seems odd not washing it with Fairy etc but the debris seems to release fairly well now without too much scrubbing. Don't expect it to remain looking immaculate though - it will rapidly develop a well-used patina.

I have bought Samuel Groves cookware before and although quite expensive, it is both British and of very good quality. The small tins I bought were to complement some existing older ones which have proven to be very durable. The new ones seem to be of the same high quality and hopefully will last for as many years.
This is without doubt the best quality cookware that we have ever bought. The quality is outstanding and will last for generations. Good old fashioned British manufacturing, hard to come by these days. We cooked steaks and trimmings on the Griddle on the barbecue and it was amazing. Cheaper foreign products would have buckled in the heat, this Samuel Groves griddle didn’t flinch. Really really pleased with it. The packaging and delivery were outstanding also, a quality service indeed. We will expand our collection now that we know the standard. Worth every penny. Thank you.
