Absolute cowboys. Customer service is appalling. Total rip-off and waste of money. I sent 1 email detailing why I was not happy and 2 subsequent one replying and they told me not to contact them again. I hope they step on Lego.
The HPI website states, "HPI uses cutting edge technology to ensure you get accurate and up-to-date information." but nowhere on their website does it tell you that it is up to 4 weeks out of date. When the data returned from my check was incorrect, HPI Customer Services responded by saying that general data and new V5c documents are withheld for four weeks by DVLA as a security measure. This is nonsense, my new V5C was received by post within 5 days and a recent plate transfer to a new vehicle was updated within minutes on the DVLA website. Basically an unscrupulous seller could have 'acquired' the vehicle and be trying to sell it before HPI is up to date, and let's face it, a dodgy seller is going to want to shift a vehicle very quickly. Just be aware that the HPI claim of "cutting edge technology to ensure you get accurate and up-to-date information" is not what it seems, which would be fine if they were honest enough to clearly state it.
Not worth the paper it is written.
Total Scam. Avoid this at all costs and chose a serious provider for your data check, such as Experian. I have put in all the correct requested information and HPI check insisted to say that the data did not match. The dealer showed me the information he was providing was correct (V5 registration document issue date) directly through the DVLA online tax check, which then made me sure that everything was OK and that the documents were all legit. I then went ahead and purchased the car. Later I called HPI check to question why was their database not correct and telling me the info I had input was incorrect. They immediately agreed that the information I was providing was indeed correct and updated their system to include the correct information (as their database was incorrect), however, I was informed that my warranty was void as I had purchased before correcting it in their database? Seriously ?My fault ? I have complied to the T&C that states that "to qualify for the guarantee, this information must be supplied before you purchase the vehicle. I have provided the correct information before I purchased the vehicle, but their database kept telling me the info didn't match. It's not my fault their data base is crap and they charge for it! Even though I was able to check the information was correct and matched the document, directly with the DVLA. They are scammers (with outdated database) who don't care about customer satisfaction and just want to take your money and run. I'm happy I just went for a single check and not the discounted 3 checks option they provide as I will surely never ever be doing any business with such a Dodgy company, ever again. In the end the blame was on me for their outdated database. Customer Service just couldn't care less. The dealer I got the car from used Experian and the information was all updated and correct. Highly recommend all other customers to stay far away from this dodgy company!!
Awful service, use somewhere else for half the price. You will pay £9.99 for a free check elsewhere
Initial report was good, but very basic, and not much more than a free app could do.If i had known this in the first place, probably wouldn't have bought the report.Customer service is far too slow to respond to customers.
Absolutely awful service and they didn’t pick up that the car in question had been through a salvage auction as a stolen vehicle which a competitor found for half the price - highly recommend Motorscan. HPI replied that it wasn’t a check they did and refused to refund money.
Opened an account and bought their Multicheck to allow me to search history on up to 3 cars for £29.97 as it seemed better value. Having successfully checked 1 vehicle, returned a day later to check 2 more vehicles and discovered no credit added to my account and there is no way of redeeming further checks without paying more money. The 'chat' is not monitored and I've had no response to my complaint so far. Seems unaccountable & a bit of a rip-off. With just a little more effort there is quite a lot of the same information available on the 'gov.uk'' website with MOT history etc if the seller can provide you with the V5 document number.
I have been trying to cancel my membership for 3 months so far. On phoning (if you can get through), they have twice promised to close my account (I'm outside the membership period), even being offered a refund on the last call by an Oliver Maycock, but they do nothing. Essentially it seems a fob off. They have taken £37.27, £39.78 and £36.47 since instructing cancellation on 12th Jan. That's a total of £113.52 taken without permission, when I haven't used their service. I've now arbitarily cancelled my direct debit. So be very careful about signing up with CAP HPI as they tie you in to a contract and may not release you after it ends. Better to pay for individual reports, if you are an occasional user. There are other such services out there that are less hassle (and expensive).
Great service and info. I had a bit of an issue when selling my car which was resolved very quickly and professionally. Thank you HPI and especially issy who went above and beyond to help me out. Great company to deal with 👍👍
Quick easy and affordable giving me piece of mind thankyou
Quick easy system and reasonably priced
excellent product at a very good price. good value for money all round.
Very easy to use instant reply would use again
All Good quick & Easy
Always use HPi when buying a vehicle. Good information can be had and buying with added confidence
Bought a car for our Son, he was a bit concerned after the sale as bits and bobs weren't as we originally thought. "let the buyer beware" became a real reminder. I went to hpicheck.com and it was £19.99 well spent, all the background fears were laid to rest and they proved the car to be a genuine sale, it's not stolen and not an insurance write off, a huge weight off our minds. Thank you HPI.
I had a few uncertainties about buying a van so used HPI Check & had a very quick & efficient service listing the vans past which prevented me from buying an insurance write off. Very pleased with the service I paid for.
I recommend you do a HPI check on any used car Ur going to buy as I have just saved myself some money on purchasing a car tht he owner didn't say was write off and we are not sure if the car is even road worthy
Good service. Helpful staff.
