Simple rubbish avoid
Scum... you search google for CarVertical, the real site and HPI check pretend to be Car Vertical... I wasn't paying attention and paid £29.00 for 3 reports and then relised! Scum Scum Scum!!!!!
Be aware with this company they don't show right records of vehicle i paid £19.99 but all information was wrong. If you trust vehicle's reports from this company and buy car then you won't be able to sell when you want.
Bought a premium HPI check and paid £19.99 which showed there was no advise data so went ahead and purchased the vehicle. After nearly two years later decided to sell the vehicle and was told by ''We want to buy any Car'' that the vehicle was a cat b. Shell shock with the news, and told hpi.com to do an investigation and it showed that the insurance company didn't put a marker on the Insurance database MIAFTR. After all that, HPI refused to give me any compensation through their well advertised guarantee programme, which stated pay out if the data is wrong, and told me clearly that there no legal obligation for any insurer to use the MIAFTR after a valid claim so therefore there are no legally enforceable requirements for any insurer to upload a marker within any given period. More Importantly, HPI.com states that they are not responsible for the accurate data of the HPI check so basically the HPI check is not fit for purpose. Save your money because you might of well purchase the vehicle with your eyes closed, and fingers crossed. Verdict: Waste of Money and time, and should be made aware to the public domain, and more importantly the government should change legislation asap to prevent this from happening to potential consumers wishing to buy a HPI report.
Awful Company, still getting bills 2 years after contract finished. Sent numerous emails advising of this and they still keep sending.
Should be no stars! A free car check shows more information about the vehicle I paid them to check than these chancers! Rubbish!!!
Terrible service and a complete waste of money. I purchased a HPI report in 2021 which came back clear so I bought the car. 1 year later, in August 2022 the insurer put a Category B marker on the car from a total loss claim in December 1999. Consequently, I can no longer use or sell my car so it, to all intents and purposes, valueless. HPI have refused my claim as the loss occurred prior to first registration and both HPI and the MIB are hiding behind GDPR and refusing to tell me who the insurance company is. Be aware, if you buy an HPI Check and it is incorrect you will be well and truly on your own.
Great service. Clear summary of the car history. Real peace of mind for me! Thanks!!!
Despite some negative reviews this one is positive regarding HPI This could happen to you so beware and have a read My son in law had his 2016 Audi Q5 diesel car stolen - it was used in a ram raid where the vehicle was very badly smashed beyond repair – when it was stolen it had a personal number plate. He replaced it with a 2018 Audi Q5 petrol and affixed his personal plate to the 2018 model. All well and good you may think until he tried to sell the 2018 car this year to find the insurance company had placed a Cat B marker on the personal number plate not on the 2016 Audi and its applicable Vin plate. He was now the owner of a 2018 car with a Cat B making the car worthless I done an HPI check confirming all of the above. As a result of paying the £19.99 if anything is wrong HPI will do an investigation to rectify the matters free of charge In the interim of the HPI investigation I tracked down the Insurance Company responsible and after lengthy emails they admitted that the mistake was down to them. They removed the Cat B marker their end - but DVLA would also have to amend their records which was proving much more difficult. Both myself and the insurance company emailed Mary at HPI. The same day she rang me and explained she was doing her best to resolve these matters – 2 hours later she rang me again and also emailed me with the current HPI clear report. She had dealt with DVLA – both the Cat B marker had been removed from the 2018 car and the warning marker removed from the personal number plate record. Personally I can’t thank her enough she was friendly polite and super-efficient – well done and many thanks Mary So beware if your car is stolen and or written off with a personal plate you later affix to another car. Check the Insurers have put any marker on the correctly damaged vehicle or you will go through this!!
As with previous reviews listed here, the vehicle check showed 'all clear' but a quick Google search of the numberplate revealed the real story of how the vehicle was stolen, and recovered almost three weeks later and then retained by the Police for further investigation. I contacted HPI regarding this and you guessed, they didn't bother responding. Whether or not you pay for a vehicle check, Google the number plate first (with and without the spaces). It could save you a very expensive mistake.
Absolutley crap company cancelled shortly after using still keep sending account statements about 18 months on cancelled direct debit cannot get through on phone sent 23 emails and a recorded letter which they got still getting emails total nightmare Avoid at all costs wish I had looked on here first would never have used them AVOID AVOID AVOID
Terrible Company. Still sending invoices despite being finished the contract and endless emails and calls to them about it.
I paid £19.99 for an HPI check on a vehicle I wanted to purchase. The results came back clear of any accident damage so I proceeded to purchase the vehicle. I went to sell it to “webuyanycar” and they advised me that it was a CAT N write off. When I showed them that I had completed an HPI check they printed me a copy of their report and in fact it was a CAT N. I contacted HPI to ask for the money that I paid for the car but they refused my request and after an internal appeal they still didn’t accept liability. This has left me out of pocket. Their negligence and total disregard for their customer has prompted me into writing this negative feedback. I want anyone who considers purchasing an HPI check to reconsider using this useless company because they will take your money, give you incorrect information and then blame you for purchasing the vehicle. Avoid at all costs, they should not be trading. AVOID AVOID AVOID
I bought a car and beforehand used hpi services.. in the report everything was clear and I went ahead and bought the car. The car turned out to be cloned / stolen. After months of basically ignoring me they basically fobbed me off and had no interest in standing over there hpi check which I payed good money for. This was not a cheap car .. high end and expensive. Thus company are negligent and when speaking are very arrogant there information is completely useless and never in my life would I considered using them again. There are much better online and cheaper car vertigo etc which I'll be using in the future. Hpi are a disgrace of a company and the staff I delt with were rude and undermining in this case I delt with Mary Mitchell who I found to be very rude and undermined me throughout the hole saga then took 2 weeks of in between leaving me hanging before basically dismissing me. I'm absolutely disgusted with this company.. completely useless.. giving me false information and the green light to buy a stolen car. I'll be going to news outlets- social media and various other sources to get the message out so no-one else gets scammed by this terrible company.. save your money and avoid at all costs !
Just got a new car a week ago and had 6 letters so far asking for my mileage on old one. Waste of time
The next time there is a shortage of loo paper get yourself an HPI check, print it off and use that. Need I say more !
Unrecorded then recorded
An embarrassment of a company. Cancelled our account in writing a year ago, still getting invoices. (Obviously not paying them) They keep referring/pushing me onto our 'account manager', Kate, who is frankly useless as she never replies to Emails and the one time I did speak to her she only said 'I'll sort it when I come back from holiday'. Of course she never did. Company policy seems to be not to give 2 hoots. If there's anyway you can avoid them, for God's sake do. EDIT as of 30/3/22, they have still not responded to any of my E-mails despite my E-mails specifically asking for a reply. Probably a dozen mails over the course of a year.
If u do hpi and pay £10 you will get 0 information pointless waste of money
I received a letter purporting to be about someone wishing to buy my current car. A car that, according to them, I ceased owning on the 22nd of February, and according to me and the DVLA i am still the registered keeper of. From what I can understand these people are trying to scam someone out of money for a car that isnt for sale and to scam me out of my own possessions. I have reported this to the DVLA and am considering the police.
