Booking easy, some slight misunderstanding over the website, but was called and spoke to one of the trainers, very helpful. I did my training with this company three years ago and wanted to do my refresher training specifically with them again.

Did the one day emergency first aid at work course and came away feeling ready to tackle all sorts. The course was a good mix of theory and practical and covered a huge array of topics. The facilitator was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and down to earth. Would recommend The First Aid Team to anyone thinking of doing first aid training.

Presenters had a great deal of real life experience in the field they were discussing as well as experience presenting to groups and keeping the tone enjoyable and professional.

I found the training good but overly focused on mental health illnesses rather than how to actually speak to people in distress. As mental health first aiders in the work place I think learning about schizophrenia for example is not something we are likely to come across. I think time spent doing some role playing and giving as almost a script to the express the limits of proficiency and the boundaries on confidentiality, also showing some emotive focus when someone is talking. Show what Gerard Egan's SOLER theory actually looks like, show how to offer some reflection and paraphrasing to show that the person seeking help is being heard. For me this would be massively more beneficial than some of the learning that I experienced. I am CPCAB level 2 in counselling skills qualified and studying for my CPCAB in counselling studies, so this idea comes from my own learning experience outside of this course.

The first part was detailed but clear explanations ensured the correct level of rigour as should be required for a First Aid course. The second part was delivered in person by an excellent practitioner who responded well the needs to our group

Good, solid, day-long First Aid at Work course. Experienced, knowledgeable instructor. I have been on the course a couple of times before, and the visuals haven't changed and look rather dated. That said, I wasn't there to be entertained.
