If Suma will not consider the findings relating to the abuse of the goats, then I will not consider continuing to purchase their products. They cannot claim to be ethical when they are perpetuating and condoning cruelty against these goats.
I have been a regular customer for as long as I can remember, but will not purchase anything now, due to the Suma's refusal to drop delamere dairy. The footage of goats is heartbreaking; so much suffering due to neglect and physical abuse leaves me raw...so why is an 'ethical' company selling these products? It's left me doubting every aspect of the companies practices. There's suffering involved in separating mother and kid so I don't think milk can be truly ethical but this is at the most brutal end of spectrum.
You should drop Delamere Dairy
I was so upset when I learned you are paying for cruelty and abuse by purchasing milk from Delamere Diary. I am telling everyone I know not to buy from you. Please use products from cruelty free farms or at least farms that have an ethical animal welfare policy Shame on your company
Revolting food products
You are not an 'ethical' wholesaler if they are supporting the killing of kid goats and the neglect and abuse of hundreds of others.
I used to think that Suma meant quality and ethics. Not any more. I realize that they are not a vegan company. However, how any company (let alone one that claims to be ethical) can ignore the horrendous cruelty being inflicted on goats at Delamere Dairy, after the exposé by Animal Justice Project, is beyond me; especially when a large proportion of your customer base is vegan. The abuse was not a one-off. It was filmed over 2 months. We are not asking for a ban on dairy. We are asking Suma to take action over this specific supplier, where there is recorded evidence of abuse. They sell just 8 Delamere Dairy products, but unfortunately, it seems that profit comes before pain, for Suma. And before customer concerns. That 6,473 vegan products that I won't be browsing in their store (yes, I added them up!).
I used to buy Suma baked beans, which are acceptable though not as good as GeoOrganics, because I thought they were an ethical vegan company. Imagine my dismay to discover that Suma trades with a goat farming business known for its heinous treatment of goats. All goat farming in the U.K. is extremely cruel and goats are zero grazed. I cannot understand why Suma is prepared to so readily give up its ethical and moral status for the sake of a contract with Delaware Dairy which is under investigation for animal abuse.
All companies dealing with animals should have the highest standards and I understand that Delamere Diary have been found not to meet these standards You cannot call yourselves an ethical wholesaler if you do not check out your suppliers!
You need to drop Delamere Dairy immediately, their abuse and neglect of animals is appalling
I join @AJPReact in demanding that @SumaWholefoods drop @DelamereDairy as a supplier to stop funding animal abuse! respectalllife.org #WorkerCoops #DDAJP22 #DelamereFamily #RespectAllLife #SumaWholefoods #WorkersCooperative #SumaSimpleDinners #EcoFriendlyProducts
I refuse to shop here again due to their refusal to drop Delamere Dairy, and therefore the torment they cause to goats in terrible conditions to make a profit
Their animals are treated disgusting, like they are worth NOTHING
Suma Wholefoods still refuses to cut ties with the abusive and harmful company, Delamere Dairy. It was abundantly clear throughout Animal Justice Project's two-month undercover investigation that a farm contracted by Delamere Dairy abused, neglected and killed goats. There is nothing 'ethical' about this wholesaler. Time to get your act together Suma, and drop Delamere Dairy NOW!
I used hold this company in high regard for its ethical stance and have bought many Suma products, but their continued support of Delaware Dairy beggars belief. Do the right thing Suma and demonstrate to the team at DD that you have zero tolerance for animal cruelty.
I am disgusted and disappointed to hear that Suma are refusing to drop their suppliers of goat milk when they have received footage of the animal cruelty inflicted on the goats at Delaware. I will be boycotting all Suma products and encouraging friends and family to do the same.
Despite being shown clear evidence of abuse, severe lameness and the killing of kid goats, this wholesaler is choosing to ignore this and continuing to choose profit over life
Unacceptable to promote yourself as ethical when dealing with inhumane companies for suppliers.
I used to buy their vegan products bit bo more! I was outraged and disgusted to discover this so called 'ethical' company has tied with Delamere Dairy who keep goats in horrific conditions suffering daily abuse. Until Suma cut ties with this company I will no longer purchase ANYTHING from them
We buy Suma peanut butter which is overpriced but it doesn’t contain palm oil and our local whole food shop stocks Suma products. I will no longer be purchasing any Suma products and will inform the shop about the horrible animal abuse on one of Delamere Dairy’s farms.
