I visited the Companies House website (via the Government Gateway) to request a particular administrative action be carried out regarding my company. Like many such actions, this was free of charge. The following day - having NEVER engaged with OnlineFilings - I received a spam email from them suggesting I could ‘complete’ my request via a link to THEIR website and with a charge of £49! The email was worded to sound like it was legitimately connected with my (direct, free of charge) Companies House request. I imagine many an unsuspecting or super-busy business owner victim has fallen foul.

The chat was very helpful and fast. Usually you have to wait a while for someone to be free but I was answered in seconds.

Ordered an express VAT service via Online Filings back in October. After constantly chasing the progress and being told time and time again that HMRC have a backlog and the registration could be delayed I finally contacted HMRC directly via my accountant only to be told that NO application in my companies name has ever been submitted. This has now cost me £75 for the non existent filing service and thousands in delayed sales.
