Medic Mentor (part of Mentorverse LTD) is a social enterprise made up of a UK-wide network of doctors, medical students, secondary students, parents and teachers. The one to one support during the personal statement crafting was really helpful and I left with a personal statement beyond my expectations. The extra lectures regarding topics such as wider reading were really helpful and helped me further my knowledge preparing me for the interview side of the application process. Last but not least, staff, mentors and the other students made the summer school a memorable experience.

The Summer School was amazing! All of the mentors were incredibly helpful, and being surrounded by like-minded aspiring medics is something you don’t get to do every day. As someone who loves reading, the lectures at the end of the day about medical ethics was one of the most interesting topics. I thought it was really useful on the personal statements and I enjoyed the social aspect of the whole thing making good friends along the way. I do think that there should be more days in which interview practice is needed and more variety of food. But overall was a very good experience.

Summer School was a beneficial experience as it helps with preparing your personal statement and allows you to gain an insight into different types of interviews. It also informs you of different techniques which you should use during the interview. All of the mentors were really helpful and friendly throughout the whole experience.
