Rented a car from them, their pickup didn't work, someone had to come in give me the keys... they gave me a car with an almost empty gas tank and which required service in 1500 kilometers, where I was renting it for 2 full weeks and the remaining kilometers were 0 long before I had to give them back the car. Then they said that I did not return their car with an almost full tank, which they didn't give to me in the first place and charged a fee. Take photos of everything!

Très déçue par cette expérience. Nous avons choisi de louer un véhicule plus chère que les premiers prix pour avoir notamment plus de confort de route ainsi que des options tels que le régulateur de vitesse et le radar de recul. Ces options figuraient bien dans l'annonce et le récapitulatif de notre commande mais notre véhicule en était dépourvu... nous avons donc payé plus chère pour avoir une catégorie "supérieur" pour, au final, se retrouver avec un véhicule équivalent à un premier prix. De plus, cette société m'a prélevé de l'argent après à la restitution de la voiture sans m'envoyer de justificatif ou de facture. Il a fallu que je les contacte et que je leur demande des explications pour connaitre la raison. Il s'avère que je n'avais pas payé des frais de péage pour un tunnel. N'étant pas habitué à ce système de paiement dans mon pays, je n'avais pas fait attention. Les frais de péage était de 13 euros, normal que cela me soit prélevé. En revanche, là où je n'ai pas été contente c'est que cette société m'a prélevé 30 euros pour avoir dû payé à ma place cette facture. Certes, cela est mentionné dans les termes et conditions qu'en cas de manquement aux paiements, la société se réserve le droit de prendre une commission. Mais il est bien précisé dans le document, que j'ai signé, "jusqu'à 30 euros". Donc d'office pour 1 oublie de paiement, cette société m'a prélevé le maximum ! En sachant qu'il n'avait pas honoré ma réservation en me donnant un véhicule sans aucune option... Bien évidemment, je n'ai pas réussi à obtenir un remboursement partiel des 30 euros qui m'ont été prélevé. Même si cette somme peut sembler dérisoire, cela montre tout de même le manque de sérieux et de mauvaise foi de cette société

Now this is the company I should have gone to for outstanding service. I had actually pre-booked a hire car with another company and requested to pick up the car from the town centre. On all emails from the other company there was no address My husband and I decided to walk the 30 mins to where we thought was the office only to arrive and find that we were completely in the wrong place at a different hire company. They couldn't have been more helpful and actually took us in their car to a different hire car company. Icelandic people are amazing, friendly and helpful. This holiday is definitely one of the best I have ever had and this act of kindness reinforces my feelings to Iceland and it's wonderful people. Thank you!!

On April 9th, whilst traveling along road nr 1, we encountered an extremely dangerous situation due to poor driving by another vehicle which forced us to swerve and unfortunately resulted in our car becoming stuck in the snow. The situation was alarming and, in addition to the stress caused by the incident, we were left in an extremely vulnerable situation. To our surprise and disappointment, when we sought assistance from GO Car Rentals, we were told that we would be charged around €500 for assistance. So, to start the process was 12,500 ISK, and then 85600 ISK for the assistance to come. This situation is completely unacceptable, especially considering that we were only assisted after making the required payment. I emphasize that during our trip, we followed all necessary precautions, avoiding F-roads and closed roads, demonstrating our commitment to safety. Additionally, we opted for premium + insurance as a precautionary measure to deal with eventualities during our trip. However, we were surprised by this undue charge, which profoundly damaged our experience during the trip. I would like to point out that as consumers we expected a higher level of customer service and support in times of need. However, we were left destitute and saddled with a significant additional expense, which profoundly detracted from our experience during the trip.

We rented a Renault Clio and got a Hyundai instead. Pricewise it is around the same thing, but we rented a manual car for a reason. Instead they just decided to switch it up with an automatic. No message or anything, just decided it for us. The car was NOT cleaned and the tank was 1/4 full, but the guy at the desk was sweet and said they would not make a problem if the car was returned with a 1/4 full tank either. He mentioned to clean big trash inside the car before returning it, but that dust etc would be cleaned by a crew, which makes me wonder why our car, which we rented MONTHS before this day, was not available and the replacement car was not even cleaned on the outside. Literally all pictures we would take from out the window focussed on the dirt and not the landscape, so we had to clean the car ourselves. The car had malfunctioning cruise control, as it would have wrong speed limits or would still drive faster than it's own speed limit when going downhill. Say the limit according to cruise control is 90, the car downhill would go 96 still. Useless if you ask me. If you would drive through water or at random other moments the car randomly excellerated as well. Then there was some steer assist or lane assist. We could NOT turn it off. Whenever passing another car, or going past roadwork, we would have to switch lanes, but the steer would force back right away. This is dangerous because then we would need to force back even harder to cross the line. Sometimes the Lane assist even followed a crack in the road instead of the white line, making it even more dangerous. Obviously we wanted to turn it off, but that was not even possible. This steer assistant would sometimes randomly steer a lot in a direction if we drove slightly too close to a white line. I am not talking about a slight correction, no, a full turn that caused us to drive to the other white line with speed, creating even more dangerous situations. The car would give notifications of the tyre pressure being too low when nothing would be wrong, even after resetting it multiple times. The notification popped up every 5 minutes for a whole day of driving. We had to stop so often and check the tyres, just to find that nothing is wrong. Would have loved to use a gauge like advised, but there were no tools that would help you in case of an emergency in the car. So a tip for travellers: bring your own things, because there will not be any in the car to help you. The day after the pressure suddenly was fine again. Never got the notification. My guess is the sensor is damaged as the tyres are fine. The car would give notifications that both hands need to be on the steer when both hands ARE on the steer. But when someone actually lets their hands off the steer, the annoying beeping notification is nowhere to be heard. Now the part that really sucked besides the stupid car: the advertisement of the FWD-cars. It is advertised these cars are NOT ALLOWED on F-roads, so we planned our whole vacation on this advertisement, taking routes that had not one single F-road on it. People on the internet said the road to Gjaín is not an F-road but feels like one, so i mailed the company asking if we were allowed to drive there, as it was not mentioned. Never got a reply, so we drove there anyway. Here is the stupid part: ON THE CAR ITSELF is a sticker that says: 'This car is not allowed on F-roads AND Route 35, (and some other routes). NOWHERE IS THIS ADVERTISED WHEN RENTING!!! It is mentioned somewhere in the terms and conditions on the website somewhere in between all other terms and conditions, BUT NOWHERE did it say this when we rented the Renault Clio. As we were not allowed on Route 35, we could no longer visit Geysir and Strokkur, or we would risk a 250 euro fine for taking the car where it is not allowed. This was really REALLY one of the main reasons why we would not recommend GoCarRentalIceland to anyone else. The thing is: we rented our Renault 4 or maybe even 5 months before the actual vacation to be sure to get this car. In the end we get a different one that is nothing alike. We paid almost 1000 euro as we rented it in time, but of you look at last minute car deals the price per day is like 50 euro's. So basically we paid double the price for something we did not get. So not only do they give you the wrong car, no matter how early you rent it, they also give you a stupid car and make you pay double for something you're not even getting. I dont understand why they dont reservate the car when they see someone paid to rent it at a certain time. Really disappointing experience for us and hopefully a warning for people who are having doubts.

Alles lief wunderbar. Keine versteckten Kosten, Auto wie beschrieben, inkl. Bring- und Holservice. Wenn ich nochmal nach Island komme, würde ich wieder dort ein Auto mieten. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es, weil es Unstimmigkeiten gab bzgl. der Akzeptanz von Debit- statt Kreditkarten. Auch das hat sich dann aber - mittels Screenshot von meiner Seite aus - vor Ort schnell lösen können.

Wir haben über das Internet eine Woche vorher gebucht,kaum in Island angekommen wurden wir vom Shuttle abgeholt. In der Zentrale lief alles super schnell ab und wir hatten unser Auto. Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit, freundlich und bemüht alles schnell abzuwickeln, natürlich mit Tipps für die verschiedenen Strassen. Auch bei der Rückgabe ging alles recht flott, wir waren begeistert. Bei unseren nächsten Besuch buchen wir auf jeden Fall wieder bei GO Car Rental. 🔝🔝

I was extremely unhappy with the experience I had with your company. I rented a car through Guide to Iceland for July 12 through 22, 2023. When my wife and I arrived at the airport on July 12, 2023, we did not get any instruction for where to pick up my car. I asked at the airport information desk, and I was told by a young lady just to wait there and someone would come and pick us up. We patiently waited for one hour and no one showed up. I tried to call them more than 10 times, and no one answered the phone. I kept asking the young lady at the information desk to see if that was the right place to wait, and she told me that she was absolutely certain that was the place to wait. Finally, I asked their supervisor, and she was able to reach them through the phone number she had. She was told that I should wait at the meeting point instead of the information desk area. She also said that the information desk area was the place to wait before and it was moved it to the meeting point. This was never communicated to the information desk! More than 2 hours after our arrival, we finally were picked up by their shuttle. When we arrived at their company, I asked their staff why no one answered my phone call, and I was told that they were too busy. However, I neither saw a lot of customers nor a long line of waiting. This whole thing could have been avoided if someone had answered my phone call! We lost more than 2 hours of our precious time and missed our planed tour. When I got the car, I checked it very carefully to make sure that I recorded all the previous damages to the car and took some pictures of the body. I did not notice any windshield damage from outside. After I started driving, I noticed a small dot at the lower left part of the windshield. This dot was more visible from inside the car. I did not think that was a big deal at the time, so I did not take any action. Sometimes in the afternoon, I noticed that the small dot started to crack and slowly expended. After I reached my hotel, it was very visible, so I took a picture of it. When I returned my car, I reported this situation to their representative, and he insisted that I had to pay for it. We did not have time to argue with him because we had to catch our flight. We had to pay your company more than $1,500 so we could catch our flight back to the US. I don't believe that it is fair to charge me for the damage since the damage was there before I rented the car. It was simply getting more visible after I rented it. The price of $1,500 to replace a windshield is ridiculously high even in Iceland. I contacted them and asked them for a refund and it was denied of cause. Stay away from this company.

Booking was easy, no huge credit card deposit. Staff were friendly & the review of the car prior to our collection was detailed. The car was just what we needed for our trip & the return process was quick & easy. No excess claims. Two very happy travellers who would use them again! Great job

Fantastic from start to finish. When we collected the car, we were told of little chip marks on the car. We were sent pictures of the entire car before hand. Amazing customer service. I paid extra at the time of collection for the full insurance package but this was choice and not pushed by the sales person. Dropped the car off at 6:30am and was welcomed by a happy Kian, he checked the car and thanked us for our custom. Would highly recommend using Go Car Rental Iceland.

Booking was straight forward on the website. The car collection was great with the location of the office easy to find and helpful staff with signing out the car. We had a Mitsubishi Pajero for a 7 night trip. The vehicle had some signs of wear inside (not a concern for us) but was nice to drive, had plenty of space for luggage and a family of 5, and was excellent on fuel. We had a query during our trip and my email was responded to quickly and helpfully. The drop off process was easy. I would rent from Go Car Rental Iceland again without any concerns.

Rented a Dacia Duster for 9 days. We drove all around the country making a loop, no problems with the car. The people were friendly and helpful, and made sure you had the tools to make a safe journey in beautiful Iceland.

We found this company through the Cheap Car Rental comparison website and it offers the cheapest rate for the type of car (4WD) that we needed for our road trip in Iceland. We rented a Dacia Duster, which did not once give us any trouble during our 10-day drive around the country. The office is just across the road from the departure terminal of Keflavik Airport. Look for Aurora Hotel, cross the road to reach the entrance of the hotel, then walk towards the left of the entrance, turn right twice, and you will see the office. You can push your airport trolley right until there. Picking-up the car was fast and no fuss. When we needed to contact Customer Service during our trip, it was very easy to contact them. They answered our telephone call, and replied our email right away. This is very important, because it is very comforting and re-assuring to know that someone is at hand to answer our queries when we need help. All the staff that we have encountered ad spoke too were very efficient, polite and helpful. We have no hesitation at all in renting from them again should we return to Iceland in the future. Highly recommended!!

Der Duster hatte zwar schon über 200 000 km und hat beim Fahren ein bisschen nervig gepfiffen, der gute Stauber war aber zuverlässig und hat uns gut über jede noch so räudige Schotterstraße gebracht. Außerdem wurde uns das Auto sauber übergeben und das Kfz war voll funktionstüchtig. Eine Steinschlagversicherung sollte man für Island auf jeden Fall abschließen. Beim Abstellen bitte auch auf den Wind achten und die Autotüre beim Öffnen festhalten, da der oft sehr starke Wind ansonsten die Türe auf- und aus den Angeln reißen kann. Ich bin mit Gocarrental zufrieden.

Service was very good , pick up and drop off without any problems. by return a employee just look around the car, proof the fuel stand and thats it. its done within a few minutes. Car was good, no problems (nearly new/16.000 km) a dacia duster, the office is near airport- only 200 meter away, very good by departue.

Based on previous experience of other people we were in contact to, we decided to rent a car at GoCarRental. The Booking through the web site was very easy and all the required insurances well explained. The CheckIn process was very smooth thanks to GoCarRentals people. I've rented cars all over the world for decades. My wife and I recently spent a few days in Iceland, and decided to go to GoCarRental for a rental car for th ed=week. I can truthfully say that I've never had such a pleasureable experience! The staff we extremely professional and friendly. They work with us to get the vehicle we needed at the best possible price. W4e had a week of completely relaxing travel with absolutley no mishaps. The car was in great condition, and completely met our needs. He had just finished a cuise, and we had a ton of luggage since we were travelling with another couple. Everyones luggage fit easily, and the ride was completely comfortable. The staff really went the extra mile to get us the best deal, and they were so friendly, we plan to stay in touch in the future. Give them a try! You will not be dissapointed!
