Could use more details on your parts for guitars on line. Ordered pick guard. I got no response emailing for question. However upon calling your representative was very helpful. Also too many different models in your excel. Very confusing.

I work artist direct with this company. They make the best guitars in this class. And for the money, literally NO ONE can touch them. The apparel is just as well made as the guitars.

Fast email response to my question; very quick shipment and delivery of the part I needed. (I'm less enthusiastic about the fact that the tailpiece on my EXL broke in the first place, apparently due to metal fatigue, but that's life.)

I recently purchased my second D'Angelico guitar, a Deluxe SS (my first, acquired a year ago, is an Excel Mini DC). While guitar preferences are highly personal--you bond, or you don't--I would recommend D'Angelico semi-hollows to any serious player. First, these are beautifully crafted instruments; while they're not cheap, I consider them a bargain. Second, they just play beautifully. The smaller size and 24.75 scale on the Mini DC makes it easy and comfortable to handle, standing or sitting; the same applies to the SS, but the 25-inch scale (one third of the way from Gibson scale to Fender) makes the SS especially good for complex chords--just a little extra space for fingers crowding in on a 13th chord, for example. Third, the sound...Wow! Mated with '59-style pick-ups, the Mini-DC has great mid-fretboard punch, but also great range, from vintage jazz to all forms of blues, to rock or country. On the SS, Seth Lover pick-ups do all that, but are especially good for jazz or for recording rhythm guitar parts from R&B to Country. These guitars look, feel and sound great. Superb quality, all around. My single, very minor negative would be that, on the SS, a few of the fret ends could have been smoothed a bit more--they aren't sharp or rough--eminently playable as is--but that single point is all I can offer to make this review seem balanced. Anyway, in my guitar collection, I've got a '69 Byrdland, a '69 Les Paul Standard, a Ten Top McCarty 594, an Ibanez JSM-100m a limited-edition Telecaster, an Eastman Romeo, and others...but my go-to guitar has been my Mini-DC--which seems to be giving ground to the new SS. These are beautiful, magnificent guitars that do full honor to the D'Angelico name. I cannot speak for the Premier, entry-level guitars, but the Excel and Deluxe lines are bargains that outperform guitars two to three times their prices.

The Deluxe Melanie Fay DC is absolutely gorgeous, has the airy, full-bodied tone of a good semi-hollowbody guitar, and has a neck that feels great to play!. The only noticeable flaw is the string height at the nut is a little too high. A first-position F Major triad can be pulled out of tune more easily than on my other guitars if finger placement in relation to the frets is not close to perfect. D'Angelico Guitars was very quick in processing my order and shipping out the guitar.
