I don't even know where to start with this company. I have been trying to get dental work done for the past 3 months. Careington has sent me three different lists of dentists, all full of dentists out of my network. The whole point of having insurance is to find a dentist within your network. This morning, I was sent a list that had been "verified" as being in my network. None of them, as I expected, were in my network. More so, they had never even heard of Careington. I attempted to call back and explain the situation to connect me with a dental provider in my network and was put on hold for 15 minutes and then the call was disconnected. So now I am basically paying for completely useless insurance and cannot get the work I need done on my teeth. Please, please save yourself the time and money and do not get your insurance through this company.

I bought into the Essential Smile Plan administered by Careington, in January. The Web site clearly stated then and now (June). That my local Midwest Dental office accepted the plan. I was informed today by my local Midwest Dental office that they do not accept the plan, and that they had informed the Web Site owner, Midwest Dental, of the error a while ago. So to use the plan, that I bought so I would not have to drive out of town, I have to drive 20 to another Midwest Dental Office. You should not have any stars, I had to give you one to be allowed to write this review!

In my second year, and I have recommended this to my family and friends. I received an email reminder about renewal, well before it was due, so I could cancel if I wanted. Why would I want to cancel? Great service, and huge discounts! True, the fee schedule is for general dentistry, but there are still a few dentists out there that are willing, and fully capable, of doing root canals and extractions. If you do have to go to an endo, at least you get 20% off if they participate. If they don't, ask them to! In most cases, they get more of a reimbursement at 80% cash, than they would with contracted insurance rates anyway - and you save tons not having monthly insurance premiums. Seriously, if all my husband and I have done in a year is an exam and xrays, I've already gotten my money's worth - throw in a cleaning, and I just made money. Regular fees $464, Careington fee $204, Saved $262 MORE than enough to pay for our annual membership If your dentist tells you they accept Careington, but are billing incorrectly, reach out to Careington for help. My dental office told me (incorrectly) that this plan only saved me $500 per year, then said I was looking at the wrong fee schedule. They just weren't familiar with the program so it took a little effort on my part, but well worth it!

Went to DC Dental Group / 3901 W. McDowell Road Phoenix, AZ 85009 mydcdental.com/ and presented my Careington 500 Dental Discount Card, DC Dental actually charged me more than they charge their normal customers. They quoted me $20 for a dental exam over the phone, then charged me $31.00 dollars, when I asked them why they charged me more than the $20.00 quoted to me over the phone, they blatantly to me because you presented your Careington 500 Dental Discount Card !, incredible. Then Careington fee schedule listed $60.00 for a smiple tooth extraction, DC Dental presented me with a quote for $170.00 for a simple tooth exaction, I paid the exam fee and got the heck out of there as soon as possible, then called my bank and disputed not only the dental ripoff but also Careington 500 Dental Discount Card ripoff, in addition to stopping payment on any further payments, reporting them to RipoffReport.com, a negative review here and also on Google, Stay far away from Careington 500 Dental Discount Card and even further away from DC Dental in Phoenix, Arizona

Horrible! We signed up for Careington Dental and immediately they charged us for their plan, hidden fees, and then we find out we were listed as a business (we're a married couple) and a different bank account was somehow associated with our account. When we tried to correct it, they kept "making mistakes." When we asked for a full refund and even though ti was still within 24 hours, they would not do it and kept their $30 "processing fee." What kind of treatment is that? Facts: They listed a married couple as a business. That would mean we'd get audited by the IRS and have to pay taxes on our dental plan. Nice.When we asked them to correct it, they said they could not. They had a different person's bank account associated with our account and listed with it. When we asked them to correct that, they said they could not. Still following? When we said it felt really creepy and like a con game, and wanted to cancel immediately, they said they would do it but kept their hidden "processing fee" of $30 and would not refund it. Would you want to trust a company that does those things? Addendum: Where they say they issued a refund? That is a lie. They never did, and I think I know how to check my own bank account. Also, my name is not Jason. I mean, really, this is just ridiculous. If you bothered to look, you would have at least gotten my name right. Let your mistreatment of others be exposed.

SCAM. Complete Joke. You get in the chair and and that’s where you learn the real cost.

Saves a ton of money if you know how to use it. Go for C500 providers not POS (those basically do not offer any discount) other than that, i’m very happy about it. Saved me at least couple thousand, sometimes discounts are even better than the most expensive insurance plans

Can't be used if you have insurance and can't get a refund even though that information wasn't presented to me via the dentist office that talked me into buying it.

Took 5 months for Careington to reply to my review....shocking! Oh, and for clarification "We would just like to point out that Careington is not insurance. Careington provides discounts on services which are listed clearly at careington.com " You may want to make sure that your dental provider knows about the discounts that Careington is claiming to "provide".

Auto-renewal is the only way this company makes money. Their plans might save you a couple of dimes here and there, but by no means offer the savings they constantly brag about. It's always encouraging when a dentist - who Careington claims is in their network - says "What???" when you mention you're with the plan. For the most part, the plans are so worthless that people forget they even have them, until, BAM, auto-renewal hits. Then, of course, don't even get me started on the journey through Satan's mosh pit, aka customer service, in order to attempt to cancel the plan.

I purchased a dental insurance from them with them saying they we're aetna should have known the first simple extraction long story short I spent over 700 dollars and they not wanting to paid a measly 109 dollars I have had to pay over 300 dollars I really don't have I'm on disability and don't make much at all so please people I don't care what they tell you they will not pay your claims that ate clearly in there book all they are gonna do is let your bill run up then tell you they don't pay what is clearly there and you can aetna they have nothing to do with them call and see who will turn you down it won't be aetna,Careington will take you to the cleaners I hate to see anyone get messed around please tell them and other people to pass these people up save yourself it's Bradley E Story dropped you about a week and never recieved a I'm sorry or money on the way you just don't pay anything 0 nothing

Purchased a family plan after looking at the payment schedule they provided. There is a section called 'oral surgery' and lists procedures that only an oral surgeon, not a regular dentist, in New Jersey would perform. Total for exam, panoramic xrays and an easy tooth extraction with nitrous oxide (I thought is was going to be more complicated) should have cost around $200. Okay - So that is the 'average' with the discount they offer in my area. So why was I charged over $700? Because Careington say those prices are for a 'regular' dentist to perform those procedures. Why do they have Alveoloplasty, surgical removal of tooth roots, etc listed in their fee schedule for a regular dentist if regular dentists do NOT perform these procedures? SCAM!!!!! Beware of Careington plans. And if you go to a 'regular' dentist who will do special dental procedures like these, beware of them, too.

UNAUTHORIZED PLAN CANCELLATION First off, they lie about what providers are available in your area and list locations that don't exist yet. Then when you call to cancel they threaten to give you only a partial refund. I told them NOT to cancel so that I could research further and without notice I see partial refund to my PayPal account.
