Unfortunately I haven't used much of World Anvil, but my I accidentally let my subscription go through, and Im currently at a difficult time in my life. They were nice enough to refund me the full cost after I explained my situation, and I cannot thank them enough. So this 5* review is for the customer service and not exactly the product itself.

The service works rather well most of the time and there is a lot of functionality in it, however it interacts with reloading tabsin a manner that means, if you were to close your browser with a tab where you are editing something, then have that tab reopen on restarting the browser, it can sometimes reset the article to a previous state, or in some cases, seemingly randomly reset it completely and delete all your progress. Remember to close every and all tabs you are editing something in in world anvil before shutting down your browser. If you are like me and have a couple hundred tabs across a few tab groups at all times, this can probably singlehandedly reduce World Anvil's score to 3 stars, maybe even 2 if you are even worse than me, however, I must acknowledge that most people are better at closing their tabs than me, and that World Anvil is very good most of the time, which is why I have changed my score to four stars, even if I have lost both a whiteboard with hundreds of elements in it, and an article with some writing in it, because of such bugs.

Great platform with lots of options for all kinds of creative endeavours from novel writing to creating RPGs, friendly customer service. There was no reminder that the renewal of my subscription was coming up, so I forgot to cancel. As an apology customer service added six months for free to my new subscription and cancelled auto-renewal for me. I'm told that in the future subscribers will receive a warning before their subscription is renewed.

The service is useful, but sadly they won't offer a refund because they consider the service used immediately at the point of subscription. Then offer a facile offer that basically says 'We'll keep your money just in case' also ignoring the local laws of the service that they're providing. The best thing is, they won't even give you a chance to cancel if you've forgotten about it because they don't send reminders. Which is a bit scammy. They've refunded the money on 02/02/23 as they accused me of having a toxic conversation, after making them aware of legal requirements and contra preferentum and have threatened me with legal action for abusive behaviour.

I had recently lost my account on worldanvil due to losing my password and putting the wrong email. The service that helped was friendly and helpful, changing the email so I could get my account back safely. This website is great.

Very fast and good service. Liana helped me out really well, offering a flexible solution while being very polite about everything. This kind of support actually looked at my problem and instead of a bot answering there was a person finding a solution tailor-made for my situation. Couldn't really ask for more than that!

World Anvil is an exceptional tool for creatives, whether they're using it to design a world for a game campaign, a book, or just to express themselves. It has a bunch of features, the best one being the ability to create a sort of Wiki of Lore, where you can cross-reference everything you write; a page for Ersn of Yunir can link to Yunir, and to his birthtown, and to the year of his birth. Not only that, but you can put together organisations like religions and political orders, ethnic groups and language groups. Which means you can easily track that Ersn was actually of the Ponal ethnic group, but his family was accepted in Yunir because they were Onors, the dominant religious faction there. And then, if you use it well, all these pages will be linked together automagically! Maybe you're 500 hours into your process, and you have forgotten flavour lore about this town you're returning to. Without World Anvil, you don't notice, but your readers or players do. With it, everything is organised in a way that serves up that information; all the info about Yunir is still there, as you wrote it hundreds of hours ago, ready for you to refresh your memory. By far the best feature to me was the map tools; draw a map and scan it, or use some other tool. Upload it. You can make your map interactive; clicking within the Kingdom of Quixl's borders takes you to its wiki-style page. But what makes that so great, is that you can make another map, of the borders 1000 years later, and do the same with that. An on that Kingdom's wiki-like page, the maps it appears in can show. Or another map showing instead religious borders instead of political ones. Then you can click through them, giving yourself (and whoever else you want to see it) a visual representation of how things have changed. What about timelines, to track the location of the Mythical Sword of Diontes over the past 300 years? Or to track Aelfna the Navigator's in-universe world-defining voyage? I have always struggled with creative pursuits. I'm not very organised, I struggle to focus. Using World Anvil was one of the few times in my life where I was able to actually let my creativity shine. Unfortunately, due to life I was unable to use the platform for a few months, and won't be able to for a while longer. But eventually, I definitely will be going back to it. And on top of all of that - the platform being great value, and an excellent tool - the staff are also excellent, and incredibly helpful if you have any problems. I had forgotten to turn off my auto renewal, entirely my mistake, and it came at a really bad time for me given that I'm having time off for surgery. I contacted them and they gave me a refund, less their costs to the payment processors. Again, entirely my mistake; it's our job as responsible consumers to track our own finances, and in that I was negligent. They had zero obligation to give me a refund. That they were willing to hear me out and issue one is something I'm incredibly grateful for. A lot of companies just flat out refuse to do that. Truly remarkable platform, even if you aren't working on a book or a D&D campaign. You're missing out if you don't give it a go at least.

These folks are terrible scam artists -- if your account autorenews, even if you are not using the account and immediately let them know, they refuse to refund you. They pretend to offer you a free credit, but it is worthless if you don't (and have never) even used the software. Clearly they would not be a real business without scamming people into renewals -- whoever owns this business should be embarrassed.

Fantastic user experience and customer service. I lost access to my account after a ransomware attack, and they answered to my email asking for help in less than an hour.

Quick and friendly customer support. Detailed FAQ and the service itself is easy to use and really helps with a lot of worldbuilding difficulties one might face.

Customer support is very helpful and nice. The tool can be confusing as there’s a lot of information. Tutorial videos are great to help with that and if that doesn’t help there’s a discord server. The tool itself is wonderful for organising your thoughts and ideas in the way you want to present it outside of your head. I wish there was an app!! Overall I am absolutely thrilled with world anvil!

Have been on World Anvil for a while now and I'm very satisfied with their services. It helps me keep all my ideas well organised and this is not a simple task. They have a discord server where you can easily contact the team and have answers if you have any problem. Honestly, for a small team company, they deliver a great service and I would recommend them anz day. The only downside I would see is that you need a little time to get used to their system but they have tutorial video and a great community to help you cross the gap.

***This is an updated review after company issued a refund: I purchased a year subscription for this service but realized this is not working for my needs. Forgot to cancel and they didn't send the reminder before auto renewal. Contacted them on the day of charge and asked to reverse it. They refused it originally but eventually it got to higher management and the issue was resolved. They promised to start issuing annual renewal reminders to their subscribers - a step in a good direction.

I've used World Anvil on and off for around 2 years. I've found their system of creating and sharing what one has thought of very intuitive and useful. I did not even make use of a fraction of the tools they have available, which I imagine many would make extreme use of. Overall, World Anvil is excellent for what it does and I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to create and detail worlds and otherwise.

World Anvil is an amazing website for creators and authors to aid in developing settings and stories. The ability to create timelines is a delightful perk that especially helps one to keep track of developments across a setting's history. Mapping, character management, and so many other of those aspects of creating a world that can be difficult to manage are much simplified by use of this site. The only minor drawback is the mild complexity of getting familiar with using the site, and that is not particularly difficult as the site's developers provide excellent tutorials and readily respond to questions for which a user cannot find an answer.

I have used this service for some time and found it really useful. Its usage patterns map well to my creative flow. With this in mind, I was able to easily and quickly capture my ideas and content in an efficient way. I recently had a baby and needed to un-sub and the customer service rep helped me out with a refund, which I am really grateful for. When I have time to get back to my hobbies I will come back to WA in the future.

I've been a member of World Anvil for many years, and it's been a great platform to help keep my writing projects organized. With endless avenues for organization, inspiration, and advice, you'd be hard-pressed to find another website that houses so much for creatives under one roof! Recently, after a big move, I made the choice to cancel my Master Worldsmith subscription to cut back on some costs. A couple of days later, I received an e-mail from a World Anvil team member named Liana who had reviewed my account and my reasoning for canceling my subscription. She graciously offered a 50% discount on the same subscription, explaining that in these tough times, I should have an outlet for my creativity. Following that, I also got an e-mail from the founders of World Anvil who were curious about my leave as well and wanted to know what they could do to make things better. I'm honestly still reeling from the kindness. You don't get this kind of love and respect from other platforms, and it just makes World Anvil feel like a home rather than another program to use for writing! I took up the discount offer and have returned to World Anvil with a renewed interest in migrating completely onto it. I highly recommend this site to every writer, RP lover, or general creative. The site and its team members will take care of you!

A very good product that helps to organize your work and helps to push your productivity to finally finalize the projects you've never finished!!

I had seen World Anvil advertised around the Internet, so when I decided to build a database for my D&D campaigns it seemed like a good place to check out. I didn't have to look any further because it had everything I was looking for and more. There's a bit of a learning curve because World Anvil can do a lot but once you've watched their easy-to-follow tutorial videos and spent a little time playing around with it, everything is easy. I spent months testing it as a free user before I was too tempted by the extra features on the paid version to put that off any longer and I will never go back. And that's not even getting into the fact that they're still adding new features all the time. Highly recommended for any GMs who are obsessive about world building like me and I'm sure this platform is just as powerful for people working on short stories, novels, or any other form of storytelling.
