Great service to quickly find movers and see actual prices without spending time on long phone calls. I edited my inventory (Unpakt built a basic list for me to start off with), compared prices and selected a mover to reserve my move with. Movers came on move day, moved my stuff quickly and safely and didn't ask for any cash or payment. I paid through Unpakt and knew exactly what will be my final price. The easiest move I ever had. Felt like riding an Uber :-)

It made moving super easy. I listed my items, chose a quoted bid, got a fair, solid, price. Move day was swift and painless. I moved from a one bedroom from Brooklyn to Manhattan, and all in all in took less than 3 hours. Should've done this in my previous moves.

The worst possible service. Unpakt does little-to no-actual facilitating or moderation between you and your contracted moving carrier. Most of the communication between my mover and me was via direct calls from the mover's dispatch office or the truck driver to me. When I asked the carrier to communicate through Unpakt, they never did. The carrier called me on a Wednesday night telling me they would deliver Thursday morning, but then never showed up. I missed a day of work for that. When I called Unpakt Thursday afternoon seeking resolution for the late delivery, I found out I was billed that day with an extra surprise $450 "shuttle fee" through Unpakt for a delivery that never occurred. Unpakt said this was based on the discretion of the carrier because they said a normal 53' semi wouldn't fit in my neighborhood. Meanwhile, at no point during all the "off the record" calls the carrier placed to me was it decided a shuttle was needed; quite the opposite, I told them numerous times not to bring one because they kept asking, which seemed suspicious. However, Unpakt saw it fit to take the word of the carrier - without confirming with me, the customer - and charge me for shuttle service on a yet-to-occur delivery. I literally begged Unpakt to take this fraudulent charge off my bill and refund me, but they refused and said it was "how they do business". When the carrier did finally show up on Friday, they were in a full-sized 53' semi, not the shuttle I was pre-emptively charged for. I had to take a photo of the semi and send it to Unpakt to get them to agree to refund the shuttle fee. And Unpakt never did address the late delivery with the carrier or offer any compensation or discount for my lost time. When I called Unpakt again on Friday afternoon to discuss damaged furniture from the move, the woman on the phone said it was almost closing time and a manager probably wasn't around. Across two stressful days of discussing late deliveries, arguing unwarranted fees, begging Unpakt not to charge me for services not rendered, and being told I couldn't talk to a manager, Unpakt kept up this line of BS saying there were emails between me, the carrier, and Unpakt detailing all of this and that I was being unreasonable or dramatic. I only received an email from the carrier AFTER arguing with Unpakt about the erroneous shuttle fee on Thursday because I had to then call the carrier MYSELF and ask them to forward me the correspondence they had with Unpakt about up-charging me. Also, the carrier had three guys show up to offload my stuff, but only one actually did any work. The other two "weren't dressed for the weather". If the carrier's personnel are not able to stand Ohio in November, why are they allowed to move my stuff? Unpakt had no answer for that, either. The real kicker is that, while unloading my stuff on Friday, the mover's dispatcher called the driver (who was standing in my living room) and asked if a shuttle was needed because Unpakt got my photo of his truck and was going to refund my money if they didn't use one. So there you have it: I heard the carrier dispatch trying to justify a fraudulent expense after I worked so hard to resolve it with no help from Unpakt. Thankfully, the driver said he was almost done and no shuttle was used. These are the types of companies Unpakt contracts to handle your move. Unpakt is an awful company and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. So should the carrier that moved my stuff (Puma Van Lines).

i HIGHLY recommend this service. I have moved several times long distances and have never had a really great experience until now. A friend of mine suggested Unpakt and I am so glad she did. I found the best moving company, M&M, and the price was reasonable and they even did an in home quote. The move was seemless. When I had questions on what to categorize in my inventory the customer service was very helpful. Absolutely will use form now on if I need to make another move.

Horrid company which is absolutely worthless at customer services. Our movers were rude and put extra charges on the contract after we signed it, and tried to charge us for it. I called and chatted with unpakt and they told me I had to take it up with the moving company. They made no attempt to resolve or correct the issue and were rude about it. Would never work with them again.

I canceled my service on Aug 30th before my move (because you were overcharging me, I called the company direct and got a quote $100 less than your price) it's been over a week and I still have not been refunded.... #scam #ScamAlert

Unpakt was responsible for the worst moving and customer service experience of our life. First, a preface: two years ago we had the BEST move of our life with Unpakt. They recommended a great packing company Simply Moving, five guys turned up on time with great attitudes and moved us out of our apartment in about five hours. An incredibly charming Unpakt customer service rep called and checked in the day before, the day of and the day after the move, it was easy and actually ENJOYABLE! I told everyone I know to use Unpakt. I raved about it. But that was 2016. This is 2018. The movers Unpakt recommended, Braha, turned up late, stinking of cigarettes, with huge attitude - just three guys - and they said they wanted to leave one guy in the van 'to guard it'. (There is a dedicated parking space for movers right outside our building.) They started wandering around our small two-bedroom apartment, looking lost. We had sold or donated about 25% of our stuff, and pre-packed all the kids clothes, our toiletries, and we already had all our books in boxes, as we wanted to save them time. The second and third guy didn't even know how to make up boxes. Absolutely nothing was packed in the first 45 minutes. I rang Unpakt and said, I'm worried they didn't send enough moving men, I don't even think these guys are legit, I think they are cowboys. The Unpakt customer service representative, who introduced himself as Matthew, said, "Cowboys? What is THAT supposed to mean?" I said "um, I mean that I don't think they are professional, they can't even make up boxes". He paused a long time and said "... right." I said "I’m so sorry, but this just shouldn't be happening, we have so many boxes ready to load, we have thousands of books already packed -" he interrupted sarcastically "you have THOUSANDS of books?" I was stunned to be treated so rudely and said "yes, actually I am a writer - ". He replied something like "…. Right okay sure". I was so surprised and upset to be treated like this that I put the phone down and burst into tears. Over the course of the next 14 hours, I rang both Unpakt and Braha multiple times, and sent multiple emails, as it was clear that the move was simply NOT happening the way it should have been. Braha sent another mover, who also milled around looking lost, struggling with boxes and tape. I was also heavily pregnant at the time. My husband was waiting for Braha to finish until past midnight. The Braha movers forced my exhausted husband to sign a home-made document saying that the move was over. Our building manager said he'd never seen such inept and slow packing – as he commented ‘it’s not even like you have a big apartment or a lot of stuff’. Our neighbors were texting me photos of the half-loaded van at 10pm and asking what the hell was going on. It was *insane*. We emailed Unpakt to complain about the unbelievable stress and substandard quality of this move, and received a terse email back from the same customer service person Matthew. Two weeks later we got a bill for an extra $6,000 from Unpakt, saying that the home-made document my husband was forced to sign just after midnight on moving day was an agreement of additional services. Summary: NEVER EVER MOVE WITH UNPAKT.

What a great service ... very simple easy to use interface and good way to reconcile and find best solution to your situation. The moving company that I picked was correctly represented by Unpakt and every thing went as planned. Granted I was prepared and had already done some homework -- so Unpakt just made me more organized and I used them as a 3rd party source to what I had started to figure out on my own.

My furniture was horribly damaged. They sent someone to "repair" it, and he showed up with a plastic bag full of furniture paint he bought at the store on his way here. He was incompetent and was unable to even improve the deep gashes and scratch marks on all my major furniture. I have been trying to get a response for a year, without any acceptable help. Unpakt was not helpful in addressing the problem. Unpakt arranged the unsatisfactory moving company that moved me and damaged my furniture. Given they apparently do not vet the movers they recommend, or help mitigate the damage, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

To be clear, this review is for Unpakt, rather than the moving company. The moving company was great but the Unpakt customer rep I spoke to was rude and abusive. After the move, I was randomly charged $300 because the Unpakt woman told me that the movers had to switch to a smaller truck to deliver my furniture. I contacted the movers directly and they told me that they did not switch and had not asked Unpakt to charge me. While I was successful in getting my refund eventually, it seems obvious to me that Unpakt was just trying to scam me out of $300, since the movers weren't even aware that this fee was charged post move. On top of that, every interaction with the Unpakt customer rep was a nightmare. She was rude and abusive and unwilling to listen to reason. Don't use Unpakt unless you are looking to get scammed!

One star only because that's the minimum. In a word, thieves. Bait and switch, hidden fees, BS calculator - especially the boxes! Choose anyone else. Theses guys will steal your money. Run!

I would like to preface this review by saying that my disappointment is not with the moving company but with the post move customer service with unpakt. Unpakt claims that you can modify your items up to the day of the move and your cost will change accordingly. We ended up needing fewer boxes than I originally expected and were owed a $45 refund. 2 weeks after our move and still no refund so I called unpakt. I was basically told that the refund was never issued and had I not called who knows if it would have been issued at all but they would now process it that day. 1 week later I get an email saying my refund was not issued. Instead I owed $50 for "wait time" and that would be deducted from my refund. I didn't understand what that could mean as everything was ready for the movers when they got there. They never waited for us to move things so the furniture would be ready and all boxes were packed. I called unpakt and had one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever experienced. The woman on the phone was incredibly rude and refused to listen to what I had to say. She, on repeat, stated that there is a vague clause in the contract that says that I may be charged for wait time without any definition of what that would entail. What they charged me for was the 30 minutes, divided in random intervals, that the movers had to wait for an elevator in a NYC apartment building with 3 families moving out on the same day. I tried to calmly explain my point of view to the representative. Trying to explain that it is not logical to expect no wait time in a large building especially on dates of the month when many people are moving and if that is the expectation there should be a better explanation in the contract (are we also expected to pay for any "wait time" in finding a parking spot?, eating lunch "wait time", water break "wait time"?). I told the unpakt representative that in fact, I had even called the moving company to tell them that there would be other people using the elevator and they never said anything to me about paying for "wait time". She refused to acknowledge my point of view and on repeat would say "theres a clause in the contract that says you will have to pay for wait time without defining what wait time is" so "we got you". I'd like to warn EVERYONE who is thinking about using unpakt that they may appear great but the after move service is terrible and fees can creep up! Also, just a point of reference- without stating this anywhere she told me that the moving company I chose charges $100 for an hour of wait time. We didn't have a lot of furniture but I can imagine that if we had more we could easily have gotten to that 1 hour elevator wait time fee so please watch out!

I like how the company is approaching the moving process and appreciate its efforts. There is potential... However, customer service is definitely lacking in professionalism and policies and guidelines should be reviewed: If a customer successfully books a move (and receives that confirmation in the form of an email), the mover and unpakt should: 1) Honor the commitment or make every possible effort to do so (or don't say that it's confirmed, or guaranteed in the first place) 2) Not allow it to be cancelled from the mover's side. It should be a binding agreement. If in the case that a mistake was made, 3) Proper and adequate notification and compensation must be provided for the inconvenience Saying that "movers can cancel at any time because of scheduling issues" does not make any sense to me as a consumer. If you received my booking, accepted, and confirmed - that should be it - I should have scheduled movers and assured that I can count on the movers to be there, and that unpakt will help stand by me. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and unpakt did not deliver.

The moving service they connected us with for our move was great. However, following the move I was unfairly charged for furniture the moving company agreed was a mistake. Their customer service is unhelpful, unfriendly and directed me back to the moving company. After following up with the moving company they said they would resolve but really that is Unpakt's role to work with the customers on wrongful charges and refunds. For an intermediary between moving companies and customers, they really need to take a serious look into how they treat customers following the move. Very poor service from our experience.

When you go with unpakt you paying approximately 20-30% more for your move why do you need to pay fee to unpakt if you can simply go Google a moving company and book with them directly, I will tell you more than that get a quote true unpakt and after that call the same company directly and see what price you get.

Experience was overall decent but not great. The movers were late, no notification before hand. Broke a lamp and a guitar, but agreed to pay for it.

Unpakt did a great job and matched us with wemoveus. The movers were professional and efficient and careful with our things. They did an amazing job.

Great service, I'm so happy it exists. I used Unpakt based on a referral from a real estate agent and I'm so glad I took his advice. I was able to find great movers and because my move date was flexible, I could find the best price over multiple dates. Thanks!

We were making a move from San Francisco to Chicago. We were not optimistic at all about a long distance move. Every other yelp review was a horror story or people paid a ridiculous amount + another ridiculous amount they were not expecting. Perhaps for this reason, we did a LOT of research. I received a variety of vague quotes from a bunch of sales people at other moving companies, was told about all these other crazy fees, insurance to ensure your stuff shows up in once piece (isn't that the one thing that needs to happen?), window of time your stuff can show up was up to 21 days (+30 built into that) - the whole thing left us stressed and ready to sell all of our ish. That's when we found unpakt. We were able to plug in all of our furniture, piece by piece to see what each one would cost to move. Then we could remove them if we decided it wasn't worth it (i.e. someone bought our TV before the move so we were able to get rid of that). We were detailed because we did not want any surprises when we got to Chicago. We loved that we could update our packing list upto 24 hours before our move. We also LOVED that we dealt directly with unpakt and they figured out the rest – this gave us complete PEACE OF MIND since they were the ones guaranteeing our move. So we get our quote, which was by far the best out of all the companies that we contacted. I was skeptical still - assuming there would be a hidden fee later. The movers showed up in SF. Were crazy fast - moved out the boxes, wrapped up big furniture (SUPER protected!!). Then we left for Chicago and waited for our stuff to arrive. I was convinced it would not arrive for a month - even though they said 14 days was the max. Our stuff arrived within 8 days. We were kept updated by the mover driving the truck (we asked because we needed to arrange the elevator) he called us several times to keep us posted on his exact arrival time. Then they showed up. We did need to pay for the elevator fee, but we knew that would probably be initially. We were stoked that we didn't need to pay a shuttle fee (the 18 wheeler was able to drive right into Chi to our surprise). I am recommending these guys to everyone. Do your homework, read the fine print but ultimately decide on Unpakt because they alleviate the stress that moving can cause!
