We ordered a bathroom light with shaver socket. It arrived in good time and the packaging for such a fragile item was excellent. However, the item was faulty; the bulb was a poor fit and lost contact and went out when a shaver was plugged in or even if the flap over the socket was gently lifted. We returned the light in all its packaging and it was replaced with one that works fine. However, the return cost us over £12, which I feel the company should reimburse. I have requested this, but have received no reply - which is discourteous. I'm OK with companies not paying return postage if customers just change their minds, but they had failed in their legal obligation to supply goods fit for purpose - they have not quibbled over this - and they really should reimburse the postage costs now they have seen the faulty product.
No problems whatsoever. If I had to find something, maybe the free postage threshold could be brought down from £100 to £50?

I ordered a number of items that showed 2-3 days delivery. After a couple of days I received an email saying it will be delayed but within 5 working days. As I needed to set a date for the electrician, I called up to find out what was happening. I found out that there was in fact only a couple of items missing so asked if they could send the majority first but they refused to do this so I had to wait. After 7 working days with no updates or items I emailed to ask what the status was. A couple of days later I received an email to say, they had decided to cancel my order as the items has not yet arrived. At no point in time did I instruct this. It makes no sense to do this without asking, and especially when they already had most of the items. This wasted almost 2 weeks delaying building works. I just wished I canceled my order with them right away and bought elsewhere. I've used many electrical retailers which had higher ratings, including [External Reference], [External Reference], [External Reference]... list goes on. All of which have far better customer service. I really see no good reason to risk using this company if you can get your items elsewhere. I see a review further down where this seems to have happened - judging by their reply to the review it looks like it could be that they try to cancel your order so you cannot rate them.

Good product range, site and prices. But unhelpful on phone trying to source a specific product - told me it doesn't exist when I've already got the product code from manufacturer! Unhelpful, couldn't be bothered with sorting my problem and getting my order processed. They lost further business as a result, particularly when my emails trying to resolve issue were treated with contempt. "Nah mate, can't help you with anything you've ordered online, I'm on shop floor". "Then can you put me through to someone who can, or tell me who to speak to?". "You need to call the number on the website - that might do it" "This is the number on the website. You just answered it". "Oh well, you'd better just email then". "I have done. Twice. They aren't responding, even when flagged as urgent, and I spoke to someone 2 days ago to get them to answer my emails". "Oh well I don't think I can help you then. Goodbye". Yes. That was sparks customer service. I was trying to spend >£400 in their shop. Make of that what you will...
SPEEDY SIMPLE SERVICE
Searched for an obscure control and found it here. Easy to navigate website, easy to buy and arrived next day. Only one minor problem, details said needed 25mm surface box but did not fit it, needed a deeper one.
I had to replace 5 par38 downlighters as they look old and use loads of power. Found Sparks using Google searching for conversion plates. The holes in the ceiling were aprox. 140mm and wanted a brushed stainless steel finish. The product I chose was 306SS. It is 180mm in diameter with a 70mm centre hole - just the job. I purchased 5 pieces in 2 orders ; the first being a test, the project in now complete. The really look smart friends who have visited have complimented how good they look. Delivery is very quick ordered one day , received next day. Highly recommend both the product and the retailer.

I ordered a table lamp with specifications E27. When it arrived it was an E14 despite having E27 written on the box. I called and discussed the matter and I also sent an e-mail to Sparks Eletrical Wholesalers asking for free return. They were unable to provide a free return so I had to arrange and pay for the return myself. I then I asked for free delivery on a different item as compensation but again they were unable to provide that. As a result I will not purchase anything from such an unreliable online shop.
Found the website very friendly; easy to navigate and easy to place an order. In no time at all I received confirmation of next day delivery and the goods arrived on time. Faultless. I will use Sparksdirect again.
