The winter chill had seeped into my cricket, like frost on a dropped catch. Years of mediocre scores and Saturday morning blues had me contemplating hanging up my whites for good. I was drowning in self-doubt, my average mirroring the murky depths. Then, fate, disguised as a phone call with Gio, intervened. At forty, with a track record of failure, I was hesitant. But something in Gio's voice, that quiet confidence, rekindled a spark. I signed up, a leap of faith in the face of skepticism, "does online batting coach work ? ", from even my closest mates. But Gio wasn't about fancy drills or exotic nets. He went straight for the root of the problem – my mind. Those mental modules were like a psychological spring cleaning, tossing out the negative thoughts that had cluttered my thinking. Week by week, my technique transformed, Gio's feedback was like sandpaper smoothing out the rough edges. Remember that 88*? The one that smashed my ten-season best to smithereens? It was just eight weeks in, a testament to the magic Gio was working. And the hunger grew, pushing me to train harder, sessions multiplying like rabbits after a rainy day. And then came the 29th of July. We were staring down a mountain of runs, 390 to be precise. But for the first time, doubt wasn't my teammate. Gio's voice echoed in my head, urging me to believe. The runs flowed, each one a brick laid in the foundation of my 134. We lost, but that innings? Pure magic, and it wouldn't have happened without Gio. But I wasn't satisfied. Scoring wasn't enough; I wanted to win. The next week, another century 118 not out, this time unbeaten, sealed the victory. The season ended with 600+ runs, the Club President's Bat a heavy but sweet reminder of my journey. This wasn't just about the runs, lads. It was about rediscovering the joy of the game, the thrill of defying limitations. Gio didn't just coach me; he rekindled the fire within. So, if you're feeling lost on the pitch, remember my story. Remember Gio. Remember, the phoenix within you is waiting to rise. And who knows, maybe you'll be writing your own success story next!

Gio and the team have been great. Working with them has really enlightened me regarding my batting process, and resulted in a much improved experience when I am out in the middle. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking to make improvements to sign up join the program.

Gio makes batting very simple, and his simple approach of training fundamentals instead of technique makes batting enjoyable and easy.

Great insights on how to unclutter the mind and simplify your processes before, during and after each innings.

Gio and Matthew are very driven coaches who know their stuff. The workshop I completed on unlocking a fearless mind has changed my whole perspective on batting and with the new season starting this week, I can’t wait to hit the crease to put these new skills and mental training to work. I’m certain the results will speak for themselves

Gio understands batting better than anyone. He has a great teaching platform that breaks down the art and psychology of batting. My son worked with Gio for a few months and his improvement was extreme. I have no hesitation in recommending Gio to anyone who wants to take their batting to the next level. His methods will work with players at any stage of their development. Definitely 5 stars.

My daughter worked with Gio and had reaped the benefit of the sessions. She had learnt to control her emotions whilst batting and let her skills come to the fore. Thoroughly recommend the sessions. Gio puts in a fair bit of effort in the success of his 'students'. Thank you.

He simplified Cricket to an extent where I went from scoring at 10 Avg and 90 SR to, 35 Avg and 150+ SR in T20s!

Gio is attentive, knowledgeable and his coaching is incredibly logical. The course is the best batting coaching you will find and not only are the results clear to see, but the process is not difficult to follow at all.

I had been member of gio’s fb group for quite some time. Spoke to him a couple of times too. Although i could not afford the private circle but i opted for his DIY training videos for few modules and even though they are short videos but to the point with amazing pointers to keep you focussed on task at hand and teaches you ways to play fearlessly and how to effectively manage your thoughts. After implementing the techniques he taught to handle your emotions and fears etc, i managed to score 3 100s and few high 40s and 50s. Thanks a lot for amazing work.

Gio is a excellent coach, after having a chat with him. He really understands where you are coming from and the mental stress that you out yourself through. His SIMPLE process allows you to take the exact action that is required for the situation and focus you down to the basics again. It’s a easy as watching the ball. Thanks Gio

Gio’s mental training for cricket is both simple and effective. It has had a meaningful impact on the way my son approaches his batting and the results that come with it.

When I used to hear phrases like ‘cricket is played between the two ears’ or hear Dhoni speak about ‘following the process’, I had no idea what was being talked about until I worked with Gio. Gio’s coaching places emphasis on developing the mental side of the game which is probably more important than the technical skills. Gio calls his method ‘simple’ because it indeed distills batting down to its bare bones: understanding the most fundamental technical skills you need and understanding how you can control your mind. Gio uses the Socratic method of teaching, blending it with a good dash of Stoicism and teaches you the essential skills that you need to succeed. He gets you to critically understand your game yourself, which is very refreshing compared to the didactic coaching you typically get. I would even argue that lessons from his coaching can be applied to other aspects of life as well, and I have found great benefit in looking at things beyond cricket with the lens he has provided me. More importantly, I enjoy playing cricket and scoring runs, and I have never felt this confident, all thanks to Gio. Gio has high standards and he expects you to maintain them if you do decide to work with him. He commits to your success and he expects and equal commitment from you.

My son's perspective from his Gio and Simple batting experience - What really helped my physical and psychological side of the game is the structure of the training and all the measurables you use going into training. I loved that I always had a plan on what I was going to work on and the measurables that I was going to execute. Also the psychological side of of it knowing how to train constructively and handle feedback well, to get better everytime Gio would see my feedback. Also, firmly believe that this teaches you life lessons on how to think correctly in situations life throws at you. Thanks again.

My son had not long turned 12 when he started the Simple Batting program. He had a reasonable technique but could struggle to pierce the field, especially when playing for his club's U15s. This could lead to him getting some unhelpful comments from teammates (even though he was playing 3 years above his own age group), which in turn dented his confidence. However, thanks to the training, his swing and timing developed, as did his range of shots. These, combined with a more positive intent, meant he was definitely striking the ball better - and that was with no increase in his physical strength. The mental training also brought out a level of maturity well above his years, including working out for himself what he needed to do to put the feedback into practice, and keeping going if things didn't quite go right first time. In the season following the training he went on to score his first hundred in junior cricket and achieved a top score of 85 in adult matches. There were low points as well, but revisiting his course notes and the program videos got him back on track. He really enjoyed the program, and as a parent I would definitely recommend Simple Batting.

My son really enjoyed the simple batting course and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the first diagnostic call with Gio it was very hands on and he and his team really understand the art of batting. The online approach is great with the drills and feedback calls that are designed to work on the fundamentals of batting whilst allowing you to improve your technique and your stroke play. The initial part of the training focused on mastering bat flow as a key fundamental before working through key strokes, that has allow my son to now have confidence to access scoring shots 360 degrees. Gio approach and twice weekly feedback calls made sure that we didn't move on to the next drill or stroke until you had mastered the last one. The online nature of the course also allows for self reflection and gives you a great understanding of batting fundamentals that allow for self-diagnostics. The 3 month program also focuses on the mental aspect of batting, that allows to you understand and accept “that sometimes you get a good ball” and to move on. During the course I witnessed my son develop techniques to remove the outside noise (coaches, opposition, selection and personal pressure) and allow him to find his own batting zone that allowed him to find his own “peak batting state” to freely score runs. To provide a little more context, I have personally seen a significant change in my sons approach that has seen him transform from a reluctant opening batsman to a confident opener that has twice this season hit sixes of the first ball of the game and once a four. This approach and newfound self-belief has also allowed him to confidently leave every ball in his first 4 overs and not let the scoreboard dictate how he plays the next ball. His scoring rate has improved significantly with clean striking and all-round stroke play. Do yourself a favour if you or a family member is stuck in a slump of form and low confidence, I would recommend that you reach out to Gio for a chat.

I really enjoyed the simple batting course. Not only does it hone your technique and improve your stroke play, it also focuses on the mental aspect of batting. The course took you on a journey focusing on mastering bat flow as a key fundamental before working through key strokes. The weekly calls and check in's gave valuable feedback and checked your progress. Gio made sure you didn't move on to the next drill or stroke until you had mastered the last one. Overall I found this course improved my knowledge, approach and enjoyment of cricket.
