About Save Our Wildlife Foundation Inc

We relieve the suffering of orphaned, sick and injured native animals through effective rescue and rehabilitation, and support research that will benefit them in the longer term. We will advocate on their behalf and create awareness amongst South Australians of their beauty and value to ensure they are here for generations to come. Our volunteers fulfil many varied roles, which collectively, and in collaboration with other organisations, contributes to the short and long-term welfare of our native wildlife and the conservation of their habitat in South Australia.

SOWFI is an outstanding organisation of dedicated volunteers simply dedicated to assisting and rescuing Australian wildlife in South Australia. Marian and her team bring their professional experience and skill sets into the desperately needed day-to-day care of injured, stressed and displaced wildlife. They train members, raise funds, build temporary housing and return to the wild our precious creatures. I encourage you to get involved!

I was extremely happy with their prompt response and suggestions in supporting the bird I rescued. In the end they needed to send a volunteer to take the bird back to get the help it needed. They were very friendly and professional and caring towards the bird.

After looking on google for wildlife rescue I called SOWFI and spoke to a very helpful volunteer (Emily) who gave us advice and found someone who could take care of the baby Kookaburra. Thank you for the work you do 😊

My partner was discharged for RAH in Tuesday after open heart surgery, it's been a task, so today was our first trip to see his sister's pug, I spotted our possum, who's been living in our date palm out front, unfortunately mumma possum was dead, went to pick her up & noticed a tail, she had a baby in her pouch !! I immediately rang the first wild life rescue I found on google search, Save Our Wild Life Inc, I was buzzing a bit , who could do this to our native animals, but the person on the phone took my details, calmed me down & the report was in,I was contacted about an hour later,a volunteer was on her way, the response from my first phone call to the collection of both mum & bub took just over an hour, para vista is a fair drive from my location. I asked to be updated& a shirt time later I received a photo of baby Bill, he was going to be ok, a few tears of joy filled my eyes & warmed my heart. truely awesome work from everyone, in so pleased little Bill is now in the hands of beautiful caring hands..💖

Thankyou for pointing me in the right direction when finding a baby possum on the road clearly not well but no obvious injuries! Was a little apprehensive on taking him to the vet first off (heard some can be quick to put to sleep) but after calling SOWFI was ensured that he would be picked up from the vet with another possum by a wildlife carer and given the best chances. Everything was easy quick and reassuring, upon arriving to the vet they already knew we were coming and were ready to look after him. Thankyou SOWFI

Awesome help when we found a fledgling who appeared not to be able to fly. Supported us until we were sure the bird could fly and got itself to a higher safer space. Many thanks Di

Thank you Denise for your kind support in advising me on the correct approach to feeding a drop in crow chick orphan that landed in our backyard. We really appreciate your compassion and kindness in not laughing at me when I advised you what we were doing to help Chicky recover. Again, thank for 🥰

Last month we had cause to call about a bike accident involving a duck. The accident was quite distressing. We were really grateful to be able to talk to the lady at SOWFI as she was very helpful. As it was out of hours when we called we were advised to take the duck to nearest vet which we did. Thank you SOWFI for your help and compassion in what were difficult circumstances 🙏 Greg and Fran

Thank you Tyler for volunteering and caring and helping me with the baby pigeon I found. You all do a wonderful job and the wildlife would be truly lost without you all. You helped me to identify the species and then helped me with what to do to give the bird the best possible chance. An amazing service you all do. Thank you again.

My partner and I found 10 ducklings without their mum next to our house. SOWFI were so helpful and gave us great advice on how to look after them. They provided us with the number of a lovely lady who was more than happy to take the ducklings in and who has been rescuing ducks for the past 15 years. We are very grateful for their assistance.
