Very good services. Great hospitality and very helpful from buffalo to baltimore
My belongings were picked up June 14. I told the movers and wrote on the paperwork that my first delivery date was supposed to be June 20. I received a call from One Way on June 21 asking when my first possible delivery date was. I told her that I gave the movers the information as well as writing it on the paperwork I signed. She said she looked and didn't see anything showing a date. The paperwork from One Way is misleading because it says it will be delivered up to 20 days. I received my belongings 34 days later. I had called On Way multiple times and never got an update besides that they were still working on the route. My belongings sat in a warehouse for weeks and no one could give me an answer or some sort of delivery date range. My paperwork with the broker says that if the delivery takes over 30 days, the shipping company is responsible to pay compensation after the 30 days. When I got a call on the 32nd day, I asked about some sort of discount or information on a refund based on the contract I agreed to and signed. The person said that no, there was no discount or credit for being beyond 30 days. The movers did not follow what is stated in the agreement as far as bringing stuff to the location they need to and setting anything taken apart back together. the original people took apart and they never put it together. They just stacked everything in my living room without bringing to any rooms. Many boxes were damaged and a large TV completely smashed in. After I got my stuff, I tried calling One Way to get information about reimbursement after 30 days and information on getting insurance information for the damaged items. I have called 3 times during their posted open hours of operation and no one picked up. I have not been able to get a hold of them. I did receive an email a couple of days ago saying that they never guarantee any delivery timeframe and are not required to pay anything. So don't trust them or the paperwork you sign because they just have a bait and switch scheme.
I contracted my move with Gateway Movers out of Florida. THEY sub-contracted without telling me, to One Way Van Lines. The movers arrived 3 hours late, but the truck was packed properly,(by midnight), or so I thought. The movers told me AFTER the truck was full that they needed to get to Maryland to OFFLOAD my things in their warehouse. When my things finally arrived at my destination, (10 days after my move), boxes were torn, 3 tables were broken, my clothing wardrobes were delivered UPSIDE DOWN and then heavy boxes were placed INSIDE and on top of my clothing. Hangers were broken, clothing arrived so wrinkled I had to have EVERYTHING rewashed and ironed. Boxes were missing, my hand truck was missing, most of my Waterford was broken, boxes were wet and falling apart and to top it all off, they broke my TV, (which was properly packed in a TV Flat screen box with extra bubble wrap and pillows).....the delivery movers went into my kitchen cabinets and STOLE a jar full of quarters, (for use at the Laundromat), and the jar had approximately $125.00 in it. When I called them up about the grievance, they told me to call the police. QUESTION: What are the police in South Carolina going to do about money stolen from me....by people who work for a company in Maryland? I was even handed things by the movers that had fallen out of the boxes during the offload! How do my things just fall out of a securely taped box? With boxes being ripped open, there is no doubt how this happened! Presently, I have called GATEWAY to see if they can offer any help with this situation, and they're not even answering the phone!!! I have called 3 days in a row and over 4 times!!! My husband and I are senior citizens! We put our trust in a company to move us. Gateway, who is the company that I hired, handed it off to One Way Van Lines. As I opened boxes and found irreplaceable things completely destroyed, I was devastated. How does one begin to replace antique ceramic and glassware once owned by my grandparents, and brought over SAFELY from Europe? They even managed to destroy a PAINTING! They broke the frame and tore it away from the frame. How does something like that happen??? Wish I could have included photos! DO NOT EVER....I repeat DO NOT EVER use this company. They handed off the job to someone else, which I did not expect or know about, and now they won't due me the courtesy of even just answering the phone! Being forewarned is being forearmed! Lynne and CJ...thanks a lot for nothing! GATEWAY...you are running a scam that will catch up to you someday. You acted as if you cared about this move. You only cared about that ALMIGHTY DOLLAR! UPDATE: As I had COVID, I was unable to unpack my Christmas decorations. When I DID unpack this year, all my Waterford and Lenox ornaments were GONE! I had over 40 expensive ornaments and when I opened that box of ornaments this year....only 4 were left. Now I know why it took 10 days to get from NY to SC. You were rifling through my belongings and taking what you wanted.
Terrible experience. Look elsewhere. Our shipment was held hostage and they could not give us a delivery date. We waited over 2 weeks after we were promised delivery. Daily phone calls still didn’t provide us with updates. Look for a local carrier that can promise specific dates. Price is not as good as promised. Buyer beware.
Worst moving company EVER!!! It seems that they go by several different names but when we used them they were called Landmark Movers. They never told me that they were supposedly a "brokerage" company who outsource the actual move. They outsourced with One-way Van lines. They told me that our furniture would be delivered between the 1st and 2nd of August so they would pickup on the 27th of July. They picked up on the 27th and used extra materials that were not asked for so they tried to charge an extra $75 just for wrapping the couches which I never asked them to do. The guy packed the truck with the exact items on the truck and said that the cubic feet was over and he called dispatch and they said that it would be an extra $400 which I told them I didn't want to pay because I was told that the items on the list was covered under the price that we agreed to. I told them to take my stuff off of the truck and Deena Chavis who works in billing got really nasty with me and said that she will tell the drivers to leave with my stuff unless I pay. I went back and forth with her and then the price went from $400 to $118 then when she talked to my husband she said it will just be $80 now at pickup and $80 upon delivery which that equals $160 which she said the total would be $190 so in the end they just want to get as much extra money out of you as they can. Don't give them a dime.
Horrible experience Gateway Express is a scam brokerage firm - with great salesmen and no quality. Jared and CJ are liars who will tell you anything to get you to sign - including sob stories about being Vets. They are a disgrace and not to be trusted. Gateway Express subcontracted our move out to two other companies - One Way Movers and Diamond Movers. Both of these companies were equally as horrible. We paid a lot of money and were told our furniture would arrive in 5 days. It took 3 weeks and several items were damaged and missing. One Way packed us in NJ and unloaded our stuff to a warehouse in Baltimore MD for two weeks. From there, our items were loaded onto a Diamond Movers truck that could barely run and indeed broke down on the way to FL causing more delays. When they finally arrived, the crew apologized but said 'this always happens and we have to deal with irate customers!' They refused to take anything off the truck until final payment - in cash - was received because they knew from experience what would happen. Once we realized how much was missing and damaged - we were told to contact the insurance company. Jared 'sold' me the insurance - guaranteeing me his company was so careful - I would never need to use it. I put in a claim for almost $2000 of damaged and missing items - they offered me $120! Several calls to Gateway Express, One Way Movers, Diamond movers and the insurance company (CSI)have all gone unanswered. I am currently working with an attorney to recoup some of my losses. Stay away from this company! i wish I would have done more research before I signed with them! Don't make the same mistake we did!
This company provided my wife and I with the worst move in my life. We travel a lot, so we are not new at this (with experience, besides the US, in Spain, France, Brazil, Italy...). I would recommend to avoid this company, or at least not trust in anything they say and double check everything, little of what they say is true. They started by promising a move on Saturday, but movers never showed up. When I called they said it was a mistake, so I rescheduled for Tuesday. I canceled my work appointments to be available at 1pm (in our building you needed to be out by 5pm). They arrived at 4.30pm. Throughout the long wait, I of course contacted them and they kept saying "they will be there in 20 min". Of course, that was a lie. The drivers were very nice (they had little information from the "management" of what was going on), we managed to do everything before 9pm. To my surprise, we received a text the next day "we forgot to charge 100 dollars for boxes", boxes that of course we never received. When I called to clarify that, they said to me "you need to prove that you did not receive the boxes, so I think this conversation is going nowhere". So the burden of proof is on you after you contract, we were fortunate they did not decide to charge 500 dollar. I was not very confident from the beginning because any other company I called to was not available for short notice and they were. Now I know there was a reason for that. I recommend you plan your move with some time to avoid this company.
One Way Van Lines is unprofessional, unresponsive and will try to pile on extra charges. When loading my belongings into the truck at pick-up, the team did extra packaging (bubble wrap, etc) that they then charged me for. They did not ask me if I wanted to do that (even though I was present the whole time) and I assumed it was a part of the moving/packing estimate I'd negotiated with the company. When I was charged an extra $325, the company representatives refused to discuss any solution. I was told that it was my word against that of their employees and "there was nothing they could do". After multiple attempts to call and email the manager, I filed a claim with my credit card to refuse the charge. Only THEN did I get a prompt reply telling me that I couldn't file a claim for damages while I still owed them money. And yes, my belongings were damaged. Multiple boxes squished (even those clearly marked fragile) and two bookcases cracked/shelves broken. In addition, despite multiple requests for an estimated arrival, I received only 6 hours’ notice of delivery and had to leave work early. The truck traveled from Baltimore to Kansas City, leaving what most would assume is plenty of time to update me that the truck was on its way and to estimate an arrival day. Yet I received ZERO communication until the day of. Do not hire this company.
Dont be fooled by the good overall review, READ before you book them My experience with purple heart have been really bad for the following reasons: - They are not actually a moving company as they advertise, they are brokers, I could have booked with the US movers "which is the company that moved my stuff" directly and saved money. - They will give you many false info before you book, once you book and pay, they know you cant cancel as you will lose money and it is too late to find a different company, they lied to me many times, and were rude about it - When I booked, I was promised that they will confirm the pick up date a week before, they confirmed 24 hours before. - they promised that my stuff will be delivered within 2-5 days window. my stuff were delivered 17 days late. I moved to a new city 6 hours driving from the original one not only they lied about it, they were very rude that it is in the contract that they can be up to 30 business day late. - they estimate your cost depending on what you provide them, they calculate higher space for the boxes, etc to be on the safe side and they tell you that when we put the boxes in the truck we recalculate, that was a lie, they did not. I would avoid them at all cost.
This company contracts out to terrible carriers who are unprofessional, negligent and even criminal. We had numerous delivery times given with no shows, damaged and missing items, and the movers were kicking and throwing boxes. Many boxes were left out in the rain, we have 1/2 a bed, a missing video game console, etc. We now have to go through insurance claims to sort it all out. Purple Heart takes your money and then pretends they'll guide the whole move but basically leave you hanging. They tried to make us sign an NDA in exchange for a small discount so not to write this review. AVOID!
Purple Heart Moving Group and One Way Van Lines are two companies that should be closed and the owners arrested. They are liars, dishonest and unprofessional. After they receive your payment they ignore you in every way. Do not hire them for any price. They damage your furniture, lose your belongings and do not give you any satisfaction, and they don't bother to locate nothing that they lost. It's been 4 months since I made my move to Florida and until today no answer, contact, emails, text, consideration or payment on my bag that they lost. NOTHING!! If I could give them zero stars I would. The whole process of dealing with Purple Heart has been nothing but frustration, sad and causing so much stress. PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP want your money then they didn't care when your stuff is lost and broken. They are the worst company ever and they broker my move to ONE WAY VAN LINES who steal your stuff and break other items. They don't return calls and they don't pay insurance claims . PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP is a disgrace to their name and then they offer you a bribe not to talk about your experience with their organization. Beware of PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP not move you!! They are brokers for other unknown moving companies to move you. In my case was ONE WAY VAN LINES. They are the biggest scam on the planet !!!! Stay away from these two companies. Purple Heart is a Broker and they use carriers that are not reputable, they are the lowest bidders which means that you will be subject to the nightmare that we have experienced using them. PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP is a disgrace to the name and moving industry. They a a broker who pick the worst and cheapest company to move you , in my case was ONE WAY VAN LINES. They took 32 days to move 1000 miles and broke and lost a lot of my items, Stay away from both companies. They don't respond to claims. Worst of all as a veteran they disgrace the PURPLE HEART name. These two companies: PURPLE HEART MOVING GROUP and ONE WAY VAN LINES are two companies with NO ethics. They are scammers of the highest form and use classic tricks like bait company to perform your move, Forget Purple Heart Moving Group . They are NOT the company you want to entrust with your move. Avoid this company like the plague. Keep away from any service offered by them. They are the biggest scam on the planet!!!! They keep deleting my reviews but I feel that I need to advise everyone about this horrible companies. So every time I have a chance I write on their website even though they keep deleting my reviews. That is the way they are: Dishonest and LIARS!!! I reiterate my statement above, if I could give a rating lower than one star, I would so. Don't believe on the rating of 5 stars reviews. They paid for their good reviews as advertising!!!! Everyone please repost my comment and save a lot of suffering for people. WORST COMPANY EVER DON'T HIRE!!!!
Used this team a month ago while moving a 14-foot large WALL PAINTINGS from Maryland to Colorado. At the start the Customer Service manager seemed to be slower in responding my calls but yet when she answered she gave me the whole details about how they work and I followed up and my job was perfectly carried out. Everything was carefully handled and am very happy with them.
A retiree and I also used the company to transfer my belongings from Maryland to Ohio in August 2018. The service was very good all-round. The team arrived on time and likewise did the job nicely. They were dedicated to their job. Everything worked out without problems. Delivery was done by the deadline day. My things were perfectly handled. If I need to relocate again, I believe, I will go with them.
I hired these guys to move my wife and 2 kids recently and they did well, except for one of the movers who mistakenly broke our medium size dressing mirror. That's not too much problem though. Other than that, they were quick, reliable and respectful! The administrators accepted to recompense us, which they did. If we need to move again, we will still get in touch with this company.
Do not trust anything they tell you or that is in writing (contract). Our entire experience has been very negative. As a first time consumer for hiring a moving company, I feel as though I was taken advantage of. They under estimated my cubic feet by almost 1/3, causing an increase of $1500.00. The damage that our belongings have suffered are unacceptable and non-repairable. The waiting time to receive your belongings is absolutely ridiculous! They don't tell you that they start counting days (business days) from the first day you are available to have your things delivered. In the contract, there is a guarantee for delivery of less that 500 mile, delivery will be within 10 days. Average is 0-6 days for delivery within 500 mile. We moved approximately 370 miles, had belongings picked up on Sept 6., our first day available for delivery was Sept. 18. We finally received our belongings on Oct. 17. That's 6 weeks after pick up and 4 weeks after our first available delivery date. Keep in mind that everyday that you live without your belongings, it costs you extra money because you either have to buy kitchen ware to cook or eat out everyday. What furniture do you use? Eat, sit and sleep....on the FLOOR of your new home! If you ship your clothing, you've got only the clothes that you carried with you in your suitcase, unless you buy more. We moved to our new home and needed to repair a couple things that would have taken minutes, doing it by ourselves. Since the company held my husband's tools hostage, we had to hire people to do the repairs (costing approx. $4500.00). Please do not hire this company unless you don't mind giving your hard earned money away to a company that is only concerned with lining their pockets with it. Side note: Two of the five men that picked up/delivered our belongings expressed their dislike of the company because "they (the company)don't care about their customers".
Excellent service, the guys were nice over the phone and during the move. Cannot be more happy with them, although they were a bit late.
One way van lines I would give it zero if i could. DO NOT USE A BROKER! I am telling you, the fees start to pile on, they use that 21 day delivery clause to hold your stuff, move it from one truck to another truck then take it to Maryland then do another transload and MAYBE you get your stuff when you want it. the ESTIMATE was $2400....to date and i still do not have my stuff, they have charged be almost $4000 and expect another $1400 in cash upon delivery. SAVE YOURSELF from this place. rent a u-haul, hire a helper to load it and unload and drive yourself if you are moving out of state. this BROKER nonsense, especially ONE WAY VAN LINES, is AWFUL. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. They will HOLD YOUR STUFF the full 21 days and charge they will definitely over charge you. DO NOT USE A BROKER WHEN YOU MOVE!!! ESPECIALLY THIS ONE
Couple of months ago my boyfriend and I decided to move from Florida to Wisconsin and I started to look for a moving company reading all the reviews searching for all cons and pros and I came along One Way Van Lines. At first I was a bit sceptical about choosing them due to some negative reviews, but I thought give it a try and it was a good pick thats for sure! They took care of everything with great professionalism and also they offered me one of the best pricing for this distance! I was very pleased with the way everything was packed and handled had no issues whats so ever. Everything came to our new home safely, no damage at all which was an awesome surprise, because we did have a lot of fragile items in those containers! Honestly thank God I took the risk and chose them as our moving company. We couldn’t have done this without them! If we’ll ever move again for sure I’ll give a call to these guys to help us out once more!
One Way Van Lines made my moving experience far less stressful than it could have been. Zeke, the Sales Manager, was knowledgeable and great to work with. He was willing to be flexible about details of the move and was willing to adjust my move time when my apartment building accidentally double booked the loading dock. The team of movers assigned to me was efficient, punctual, easy to work with, and careful with my things. They had my stuff packed up into the van in about an hour and a half and unloaded in about the same amount of time. They took great care with my belongings, wrapped pieces of furniture in moving blankets and used bubble wrap when needed. I was worried about my mom’s piano, but they took very good care with it. There's not a scratch or dent or any damage to any of my things or to the walls in either location. And, they were all kind enough to help me figure out how to best arrange my sectional sofa in my new place. :) Working with One Way Van Lines was a great experience, and not only would I recommend them to anyone looking for movers, I will use them again myself!
Second move ina week I called one way again just a few days after using them for the first time The sales person Gary responded quickly and set a new appointment for me Despite their truck breaking down they kept their promise and came and got my stuff and hauled it across town Roger and his one man crew worked until 10pm in the rain
