Like others have expressed in their reviews, the couch we ordered took longer than expected to arrive. However, I cannot stress how well worth the wait it was! The craftsmanship and materials used are of exceptionally high quality and, equally as important, eco and human friendly. The best of both worlds! Our couch is sleek and modern and oh so comfy! It far exceeded our expectations. To top it off, customer service was really great. We couldn't have asked for better. We will definitely be ordering from Stem again for any future furniture we need.

We were interested in Stem because we wanted high quality leather furniture without all of the toxins and hazardous chemicals that most furniture companies use on leather. Stem provided an amazing quote and they were extremely flexible with our requests. We ordered custom furniture adapted from their Pel collection, and it turned out amazing. We couldn’t be more pleased with how the furniture looks, and knowing what materials were used in the furniture really put our minds at ease (nontoxic). You will not be disappointed with their furniture.

I purchased a couch and 2 chairs from STEM. I'm very happy with my purchase. Non toxic was very important to me and I'm thrilled to own attractive furniture with no smell or nasty outgassing for years. Our family will be healthier because of this purchase. I was also happy about the fact that I could pick my fabrics and customize the furniture. We wanted higher backs than the standard measurements and we were concerned it would not fit our needs. But then we found out that they could make the backs as high as we desired. So I have my furniture now and it's beautiful and comfortable and most importantly non toxic!

I have been in search of a couch for a long time. Back in May I ordered a couch through West Elm and they could not get it together and kept pushing back my delivery date, every time I would call them for an update I would get redirected to a third party shipping and or product management department who never gave me a definitive answer to the whereabouts/process of my order. Three months later, still no answers to my question and being fed up I ended up cancelling the entire order. After that experience, I really did not want to order anything online and went in person shopping for couches but never found the right one, i.e size, fabric, color or design. I decided to give online shopping another shot and stumble upon STEM. Their story and their passion for Eco friendly furniture and their value for customer service and satisfaction is top notch. Not only that, but each couch option is customizable to the design, color, fabric choice, size and measurement to fit my home and style. Every process along the way I was updated. They would send updates on the progress of my order even when it was shipped. Getting in touch with STEM was easy as well. Two weeks into my order I suddenly had a change of heart on my fabric choice. And I emailed STEM and called them the next working day to have my fabric choice changed and there was no fuss about it, it was handled right away no questions asked. Unlike calling West Elm you won't get some random third party representative that redirects your questions and every time you call you get a different person. At STEM its different both Laura and Lindsey are wonderful and responsive. Lastly, my order was delivered on time 8 weeks the shipping company they partner with is efficient and timely. Giving/calling me with updates on how far away they were to my home. AND finally THE COUCH, its the best thing I ever sat on. It is firm but comfortable, it hold its shape so well. It's just what I wanted, the fabric choice came out right. It's everything I asked for and it fits perfectly in our home just how we wanted it to be. I can not be more happy with it and plan of using STEM and recommending STEM to all my families and friends. Thank you STEM!!

The couch itself gets 5 stars - we are thrilled with the quality, and it's amazing to take a piece of furniture out of its packaging and smell zero VOCs! The reason I'm taking a star off is due to the delivery experience. The estimate was 4-6 weeks, and it took over 8 weeks to arrive with few updates or reset expectations along the way. Not a huge deal at the end of the day, but that prevents it from being a 5 star experience overall.

Stem provided is with a perfect customer experience throughout the process, from choosing the fabric to customizing the size to receiving the delivery--everything was easy and painless. We purchased the Zavis sofa and absolutely love both its style and construction. More than that, we feel peace knowing that the sofa is free from harsh chemicals. All in all, a great experience. As a side note, for shipping/delivery, I chose to unpack the sofa myself; you can alternatively choose to have the sofa set up for you inside your home for an extra fee. The sofa came very well protected in both sturdy cardboard and plastic wrapping. The delivery guys were kind and considerate. It took me about a half hour to unwrap the sofa and install the legs, so for me, it was worth the money saved.

Couldn't be happier as a organic lover, stem is the only company that I could find with a organic couch. My Mat L sectional is perfect with a square coffee table. Loving this couch I'm my toxic free home. My Dyson vacuum an my quick connection cleans it on max suction with no damage to the couch. Amazed an blessed.

Our experience with Stem was great! The turnaround time was much longer than anticipated but Stem kept us updated and the quality of the piece was well worth the wait! I wouldn't hesitate to buy more furniture from them.

Amazing couch. The website was fantastic. We had read that stem did a great job of communicating with customers. They did inform us initially that because of a large number of orders there would be delays in delivery. But after that initial email, we did not hear from them in over a month. Then we got email updates at least once a week till it arrived. It got here several weeks later than initially estimated, but the delivery went smoothly. And the couch is a dream! No smell, very comfy, and stylish. Well worth the extra wait.

I love Stem products and the people that work there. Everyone was amazing! From the moment I inquired about their furniture, the staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I felt that they truly listened to my needs for my customized sectional. I love how it turned out; my favorite part is the peace of mind I have knowing that I am protecting my children from harmful chemicals found in so many other furniture products out there today. I had a great experience with STEM. I live across the country and bought this piece of furniture without sitting in it. I had specific measurement wants, which were made to order. The staff was patient as I decided on the color and I received updates as the couch was being produced/shipped.

Quality furniture, excellent customer service! I purchased a sectional from Stem - it's very well made and also very comfortable. Customer service was very responsive to my questions.

I’m extremely happy with my Stem experience. There were no delivery delays and I received updates throughout the production process. I love their custom options and fully support the products they are offering. I hope more people will seek out and research the health benefits of non-toxic furniture and highlight companies like Stem.

Four out of five stars for manufacturing. Zero stars for fulfillment. Stem Furniture is a company that custom builds your order and ships it to you. They do the first thing well, but they really fall down on the second. It’s been ***five months*** since our initial order was placed with Stem, and we are still troubleshooting. Customer service is friendly, if sometimes slow to respond, but that does not make up for the company's glaring inability to fulfill orders correctly on the first, second, or even third attempt. If fulfillment was as strong as manufacturing, you wouldn’t need the customer service. We placed our order for a couch on Sept 11, 2017. On October 17, the wrong couch was delivered. The couch we originally ordered was lost. It was finally located and delivered on November 29 but arrived badly damaged. We had paid extra for white glove delivery. The couch arrived wrapped in a thin sheet of ratty, torn plastic. The couch was filthy and damaged, and we did not accept the order. AIT Worldwide Logistics was the transportation company that so badly messed up the first two delivery attempts and damaged the couch. The men they sent were the opposite of white glove service. After blowing the time window by nearly seven hours, they arrived stressed, in a rush, and determined to manhandle the furniture over every step and corner without regard for damage. Should you choose to work with Stem, I’d recommend insisting that AIT play no part in the fulfillment of your order. With the originally ordered couch damaged, we decided to go back to the drawing board. We ordered a sectional L-shaped couch and ottoman in white leather (we thought the leather would be more resilient in transport). We insisted that AIT not handle the logistics. Stem complied with the last mile delivery, booking a local white glove service, Navis. But they sent the furniture across the country with AIT anyway, going against our request, and of course, the furniture arrived damaged. For some reason, the couch sectional was transported with the legs attached. This is moving 101. The legs should be removed. So the legs arrived bent. Again, you should avoid AIT at all costs. Unlike Stem’s friendly customer service, AIT’s customer service is obnoxious and deceptive. (They provide a time window, but the movers invariably arrive several hours after that.) Navis, the white glove movers, did a great job installing the furniture on January 29th. However, when taking delivery of the furniture from AIT, Navis saw that there was damage to the legs. Stem sent legs to us in advance of the install, so they could be replaced at that time. The wrong legs were sent. Four of one size, four of another. And when the sectional and ottoman were installed, we also noticed that the legs on the couch sectional were shorter than the legs of the ottoman by four inches. We requested new legs be sent -- to replace the bent leg and to even out the couch with the ottoman. More problems with FedEx: two failed delivery attempts. Of course, FedEx's issues are not Stem's fault. But had the legs been removed from the sectional couch when it was originally shipped (i.e., if a competent mover had been used instead of AIT Worldwide Logistics), and had the legs of the couch matched the height of the legs of the ottoman, then we wouldn’t be having to deal with the FedEx issues. Bottom line: ff you live in LA, then taking delivery of your Stem furniture should probably go ok. Outside of Stem's vicinity, you run a significant risk of problems. As for the quality of the sectional and ottoman, it’s fine for the price point. We had a similar sectional made years ago through B+B Italia, which also custom builds their furniture. The price point is much higher, and the quality was commensurately better. With our Stem sectional, the fastener that joins the two sections is flimsy, so the two pieces seem like they’re connected haphazardly. Again, for the price, it’s fine. And we are happy knowing the furniture is eco-friendly. But it’s five months since we placed our original order. It’s been an extremely frustrating experience and definitely one we will not be repeating. If you have lots of time on your hands and the patience to deal with Stem’s incompetent fulfillment, then, by all means, order your furniture through this company.

Great! very easy to work with, on time and helpful. Our sofas are fantastic. They got us the sofas in time for Christmas even though we ordered just after the whole Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend. We went into this knowing they’ve had some production issues and we were pleasantly surprised with their customer service. And no I’m not a robo reviewer.

Do not expect to receive your furniture in the time advertised on their website. I ordered a couch on 6/7/17 and still have not received it by 9/8/17. My couch is sitting in a warehouse waiting my to be delivered but this company cannot get it together to work with a delivery company to get it to me. I have had repeated calls with them, each time they have promised to fix the issue ASAP. On top of this, I paid extra for 'white glove delivery' -- oh the irony! Stem please get it together and delivery my couch (order #1381). I hope their furniture is of better quality than their service.

Great purchasing experience and the final product was fantastic. Shipping was a bit slower than advertised.
