Though they (or anyone else) could supply 2 core silver braided flex, they gave advice on converting 3 core to 2 core - simply untwisting the earth wire - and so I got what I needed, although slightly more expensive overall, but only 2 core would fit throught the switch and into the (old) table lamp (there was no terminal near the bulb fitting to connect an earth wire to anyway).
