OK, so first of all the product itself is a beautifully made piece, it's extremely strong and my carpenter commented a few times on how great the quality of of the components were. Secondly, I can't fault the service of Terry and his team because whilst we had a few hiccups (more of that in a moment) they did their best to sort us out. This is a family run firm and I even popped to the workshop to pick something up as I live locally so saw some items being made. I would have given 5 stars but giving 4 because of some issues/misunderstandings. Please note that the 4/5 is not a reflection on the item as such. So, we were sent the wrong spacers which unfortunately meant that the wheels hit the brackets, we didn't have time to go back to the workshop to pick up new spacers so my carpenter had to make some at our expense, this actually set us back half a day which isn't ideal when I'm paying a day rate. There was also some confusion during the ordering process as I was expecting a kit for 4 doors and was sent a kit for 2 after I did explain what I needed...however, to be fair, I should also have made this more clear in my follow up email after my order. Consequently the guide system also didn't work for my purposes BUT this is because the way my doors need to function is a bit different from the standard; Terry called me about this and we had a brainstorming session on how to resolve this issue, he was helpful at every step. I would use Doormate again despite the hiccups and would recommend them. I don't understand the people saying their customer service is poor. Also, just a small thing but the fitter said that the instructions weren't hugely clear for everything I.e which way to put the bolts in and things like that which may sound trivial but it led to us needing to cut and file every bolt.

This company would seem to pride itself on placing customer service at the top of the list. From a slight delay at the start contacting me, it’s been excellent since then with contact on the same day. Help in choosing my system was available and their understanding of my system ensured that I was correctly supplied. I completed the installation of the sliding rails in a couple of days, and can’t believe how strong the system is, which is great as the doors are quite heavy. One comment is that the joining link wasn’t strong enough for my door weight so may tack a weld on that to be sure. But for lighter doors it will be fine. I would recommend this company without doubt. Only bad thing wasI spoke to Terry after Wales beat England, he was rightly proud, and why not🤷🏼‍♂️

Door purchased as sliding barn door. However this is completely warped at the bottom and so scrapes the skirting board and cannot function. This door is not fit for purpose. Upon contacting Doormate we were informed that no returns can be accepted. Terrible customer service. I would not recommend this company. Customer name of Bickerton. Was in a real bind with a project and needed the barn door rail mechanism super quick, Terry was really helpful and did everything he could to decrease the lead time. Very happy.

We love our barn door hardware. Terry and the team were so helpful, walked us through everything so that our measurements were spot on. Our carpenter was very impressed with the quality and we were hanging v heavy doors. Now I am just trying to find other locations in the house to order more. You will not regret this purchase.

Terry was very helpful from the first enquiry on the phone with advise and sorting out measurements. The rail and fittings arrived and were easy to fit and not over complicated. The only thing I altered was I used 140mm coach bolts and plugs just to get a deeper fixing into the brick wall . The door rollers feel and look good quality with decent bearings. Absolutely excellent company. I wanted to purchase my sliding door hardware from a British company as opposed to a seller on a market site as I didn't want a standard length and one size fits all doors approach. I wanted a system that was bespoke to my requirements and from someone that I could contact in case of an issue etc. I'm so glad that I found DoorMate! Terry is fantastic! I've been in contact via email and phone, firstly before I ordered the hardware to double check my measurements prior to having doors made (by a local carpenter to match all the other doors in my cottage) and also when I discovered that the newly made doors hadn't been made exactly to my specification! However, Terry to the rescue! He advised me on how to overcome my issue and tailored the hardware to the doors. The hardware arrived really quickly and when I had to reposition the rail (due to my doorway not being straight..... old cottage!) Terry was happy to send me new rawlplugs! His customer service is excellent. I have fitted the Gainsville system (which looks amazing) and have the Covington system ready to be put up. I am very, very happy to recommend DoorMate

Terry is a star!! He did all he could to help me out when I needed some door rollers really quickly. He pulled out all the stops and made it happen ASAP. And such a nice guy to deal with aswell!! Five stars very well deserved!!
